Doing the right things plus opportunity. We've been phonebanking and carpeting the early states with TV ads and mailers. None of that mattered because people were still committed to their other anti-Romney candidates.

But slowly those candidates are falling apart. Perry bursts into flames every few days. Cain is a disaster. Gingrich is old-hat and failed small government conservatives in the 90s. Perhaps the people are just realizing that it's Paul or nobody.

The single most encouraging thing about the poll, besides the raw numbers showing Paul tied for first, is that his surge is happening in the teeth of such ridiculous MSM attempts at marginalizing him. Yes, the lunacy of Fox reporting the poll as if Paul was not in first is highly annoying, but nothing we haven't seen before. The poll means we can win this thing whether or not we get coverage! The MSM can't stop us now, and if they do cave in and DO start covering Paul, it really will be over, as Paul will then definitely win most of the early primaries. And also consider that the poll is only of GOP people, not independents who will definitely cross over on caucus night!

Nah - I took statistics in college, so the original sample size isn't the problem, but when you break things down to the 3rd or 4th level, alot of times you will be able to play with the statistics to make them work for you (but not be truly indicative of whats happening) since you are now talking about an incredibly small sample.

This is a very good poll for Ron, according to it, he currently has the highest floor, and has reached the most people in the state.

Actually, if you took "statistics" in "college" you would know that the sample size makes a huge difference. Its called a significance level and it dramatically goes up the smaller your sampling group gets. That being said, this is HUGE!!! When your tied for the lead, as much as the MSM hates it, the have to talk about Dr. Paul. I love it!!!! Home phoning program seems to be working!

Sample size is plenty important. This sample size in this poll is plenty sufficient. But sample selection and crosstabs are a whole other matter.

Man, I wish RP would have just inched out Cain for first. Most people don't understand statistics and although Ron Paul is technically tied for first, he won't get many headlines to that affect (although I have seen some). It would be great to see a lot showing him on top in Iowa.
