There were historic events at the GOP National Convention, and now Ron Paul plans to make a major announcement Tuesday on the Jay Leno show.

GOP Convention Recap; What Will Ron Paul Say on Leno Show?

Same as he always says: I have no intention of running third party.

I'll be happy to eat crow but I'm confident he hasn't changed his mind on this. As I said, I really have no idea why Leno wants to interview him if nothing newsworthy is going to take place.

What evidence is there that Ron is making a "major announcement" on the tonight show?

It probably won't be anything big or shocking. Definitively no 3rd party run and I highly doubt he'll endorse either Mittens or Johnson.

Ron likes the spotlight. He's had a little break for a couple weeks.

He could accept an offer from GJ to be his VP. Not sure if that's an issue with sore looser laws and also not sure if Judge Gray, the current Libertarian VP would be OK with that.

He's probably going to endorse Gary Johnson, but I'd still love to hear him announce a 3rd party run.

I never saw anything except on social media saying there was going to be a 'major announcement', just that he would be on Leno. After RNC he is news, and his take on RNC SHOULD receive media. Before people started floating third party I assumed he'd be saying he was going to actively take over running C4L, at least, that was what I hoped, not necessarily with all of the same staff. I think his own words need to filter through better. But I want him actively keeping Congress honest, even if in a Norquist kind of roll.

Whenever people start spinning appearances as 'grand announcements' people start getting outright angry when there isn't one.

that would be insulting. The only way the ticket would get in the debates is with Ron at the top, who has polled above 15% as a third party potential. Gary was just polled in Rasmussen and got 1%.

I gonna repeat another guy's question I saw above: What evidence is there that Ron is making a "major announcement" on the tonight show?
You guys always seem to make a fuss over nothing. He's probably just gonna have a chat with Leno. I doubt there's going to be any sort of major announcement. There hasn't been one major announcement this entire campaign!

Insulting to who?

Ron Paul will not be eligible for the Presidential position on the Libertarian Party ticket in all 50 States.

The sore loser laws means he'll only be able to slide in as VP. If you wanted Ron Paul as your President, why were the mods deleting all the "run third party" threads down months ago?! Seems you have shot yourself in the foot.

Paul Runs as VEEP. Gary Resigns. :D

This has been said many times before here on the forums ... sore loser laws DO NOT APPLY in the case of a presidential bid. The voter is NOT voting for Candidate A over Candidates B, C, D, etc. Instead the voter is voting for an individual who will be elected to the STATE OFFICE of Presidential Elector and who is pledged to vote for either Candidate A or Candidate B or Candidate C or Candidate D or Candidate etc.

what if he endorses Rmoney? stranger things have happened.

Only if Ron Paul or his family was threatened in any way would he endorse Romney.

Remember, Ron Paul - thanks to Jesse - refused to attack Romney during the primary/debates because Mittens threatened to destroy Ron with a negative PR blitz.

I am hoping it's just Ron getting out there to laugh at himself without having to get all serious. But then again, why go to CA for "just because?" Almost everyone that goes on these type of show is to - wait for it - promote something. ;)

Ron likes the spotlight....

Ah, I'm glad someone else recognizes this.
I mean no disrespect to Ron, but I think that may have even been a factor in his failure to give a definitive answer to the independent run question.

Nobody would like the opportunity to cast a vote for Ron more than I, but there are far too many impediments to a third-party/independent run. It's just not happening.

Certainly, at this point, Ron has made up his mind on this matter. And I think continuing to hedge this question would be disingenuous. While I don't believe the Leno show was specifically scheduled for any sort of "big announcement", I hope he makes a clear and definitive statement in this regard in his Leno appearance. Otherwise the rumors and speculation will reach the level of being counterproductive... if they have not already.

The New American article quotes Ron as not telling people who to vote for, so I doubt he'll be endorsing anyone.

Matt Larson made a video saying there would be an "announcement." But who is the heck is Matt Larson?
