Between now and November: Take down Mitt Romney

If we outwardly get involved with this effort, it will likely cause a lot of blowback for our current and future liberty candidates.

Is it worth it?

Newt has already elated that the GOP will blame us for getting Obama elected. If Obama does get elected then perhaps a lame duck second term (if the GOP holds the house) wouldn't be such a bad thing except wasted time.

My opinion: we continue to focus on congressional seats.

always the threats...it would be their fault. A lot of us were former democrats anyway that they couldn't hold onto.

I couldn't give any less of a fuck what that evil little puffball says. Of course they will blame Ron Paul's supporters. It's hilarious they think we're not important, then they will blame our 'tiny' movement for not electing Romney.

LOL?

Find dems open to info compiled on mittens and let them run with it? Some of Doug W's stuff is good: manipulation fo primary order, etc.

I want Romney to win. Here's why:

Whoever the next President is - Obama or Romney - they will fail miserably. The economy is going to continue to spiral down the toilet, perhaps with a spectacular flush at some point. Obama has already failed in the minds of many of his supporters. They haven't figured out what to do about it yet, but they have taken a hit. Now I want a new class of rah rah Republicans, who have been focusing on how bad Obama is, to get schooled by how unconservative, how corrupt, how terribly lame their RNC-endorsed Presidential candidate is.

Our cause within the Republican party will be best served by a conspicuous failure of the candidate we tried to save them from. We will win MORE converts in the Republican party if Romney wins and fails than if he loses and the Republicans can sit around for four more years blaming the democrats.

Interesting take, I might agree with you.

But on the other hand, the Democrats and Republicans both follow Keynesian policies, yet the Democrats are the ones who people ideologically associate with those policies

We've seen this before: the Democrats point to George W. Bush's presidency and say "see, look, deregulation and low taxes caused the 2008 crisis!"

So it seems to me that we have a choice between emblazoning the failure of Keynesian policies in the minds of voters, versus maybe emblazoning the insincerity of the Republican party. If the public starts to recognize that Democrat-like policies caused the biggest economic crash in world history (I'm talking about the one that will likely happen post-2012, not the 2008 crash), then all we have to do is point out some facts to the public about how the Republicans' policies were also just as Keynesian-inspired, despite their rhetoric.

That sounds like the easier job.

So, I think I want Romney to win, so the ideology that ruined our economy will get the proper "credit" it deserves. The fact that Romney and the asshole GOP establishment loses is just a fringe benefit.

Yes, but Elwar, most Republicans are still going to see Romney as the better of two bad options.

And that is why we need to educate Republicans that both Romney and Obama are essentially the same animal.

I'm working on my "I don't like Romney, but he's better than Obama, right?" Republican friends. I already got two to switch to voting for Gary Johnson (and, to make it even sweeter, one is in a swing state!).

We all know there are plenty of Republicans who don't like Mitt Romney, and are only supporting him because he isn't Barack Obama. We need to work on these folks- just give them a reason not to cast that already half-hearted vote for Mittens.

Screw Mitt Romney and his Nazi/authoritarian tactics.

Let the blowback begin!

I really like Parocks suggestion of "Operation Humiliate Romney", posing as Romney supporters anywhere cameras will be and say racist, foolish and bigotted things. The media will run wild with footage like that.

Lol, that's pretty funny.

The only thing is, you'll probably have to elbow the real Romney supporters, who are saying the same thing, out of the way, first.

IF you do work against Romney, at least don't tell party regulars.

And don't become what we have always despised. Take the high road.

You mean like Huffington Post and New York Times? I think they got the memo!!!!!

UPDATE - 9/1/12: Bain Capital is now under investigation by the New York Attorney General's office for the dubious management fee conversion described below, The New York Times reports.

So,...you think if we behave ourselves from here on out the mainstream Republicans will stop referring to us as "Paultards"?

Yes, that's correct ... supporting the GOP, along with the new rules they have in place, will assure us a victory in 3,000 within the party!!!

In 4 years if Rand is running I would bet the farm on it.
I'll take that bet. Do you actually have a farm?

It's impossible to win by their rules ... when we are winning, they change them AND get away with it.

Elwar,

Maybe a better use of our time would be to find something constructive to do. Wouldn't it be nice to be to busy to have time to bother with trying to get some sort of revenge?

The Beatles – Revolution 1 Lyrics

You say you want a revolution
Well you know
We all want to change the world
You tell me that it's evolution
Well you know
We all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know you can count me out in
Don't you know it's gonna be alright
Don't you know it's gonna be alright
Don't you know it's gonna be alright

You say you got a real solution
Well you know
We don't all love to see the plan
You ask me for a contribution
Well you know
We're doing what we can
But if you want money for people with minds that hate
All I can tell you is brother you have to wait
Don't you know it's gonna be alright
Don't you know it's gonna be alright
Don't you know it's gonna be alright

You say you'll change the constitution
Well you know
We all love to change your head
You tell me it's the institution
Well you know
You better free your mind instead
But if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao
You ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow
Don't you know it's gonna be alright
Don't you know it's gonna be alright
Don't you know it's gonna be alright

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Alright, alright, alright, alright, alright
Alright, alright, alright, alright, alright
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Alright, alright, alright
Alright
Alright

Rand will never be accepted by TPTB. At best, he's the Irish guy working for the mob. At worst, he's liberty in a cheap disguise.

They'll never give him the keys to the country. Ever.

Especially when there's a long line of proven establishment men to run in his stead (Jeb, Rubio, Christie, Ryan, etc)

MITT ROMNEY FUNDRAISER AND CHINESE SLAVE LABOR:

Text:

"When I was back in my private equity days, we went to China to buy a factory there. It employed about 20,000 people. And they were almost all young women between the ages of about 18 and 22 or 23. They were saving for potentially becoming married.

"And they work in these huge factories, they made various uh, small appliances. And uh, as we were walking through this facility, seeing them work, the number of hours they worked per day, the pitance they earned, living in dormitories with uh, with little bathrooms at the end of maybe 10, 10 room, rooms. And the rooms they have 12 girls per room.

"Three bunk beds on top of each other. You've seen, you've seen them? (Oh...yeah, yeah!) And, and, and around this factory was a fence, a huge fence with barbed wire and guard towers. And, and, we said gosh! I can't believe that you, you know, keep these girls in! They said, no, no, no. This is to keep other people from coming in.

"Because people want so badly to come work in this factory that we have to keep them out. Or they will just come in here and start working and, and try and get compensated. So we, this is to keep people out. And they said, actually Chinese New Year as the girls go home, sometimes they decide they've saved enough money and they don't come back to the factory.

"And he said, so, on the weekend after Chinese New Year there will be a line of people hundreds long, outside the factory, hoping that some girls haven't come back. And they can come to the factory. And, and so as we were experiencing this for the first time, going to see a factory like this in China some years ago.

"The Bain Partner I was with turned to me and said, you know, 95% of life is settled if you are born in America. This is uh, this is an amazing land and what we have is unique and fortunately it is so special we are sharing it with the world."
