Between now and November: Take down Mitt Romney

I want Romney to win. Here's why:

Whoever the next President is - Obama or Romney - they will fail miserably. The economy is going to continue to spiral down the toilet, perhaps with a spectacular flush at some point. Obama has already failed in the minds of many of his supporters. They haven't figured out what to do about it yet, but they have taken a hit. Now I want a new class of rah rah Republicans, who have been focusing on how bad Obama is, to get schooled by how unconservative, how corrupt, how terribly lame their RNC-endorsed Presidential candidate is.

Our cause within the Republican party will be best served by a conspicuous failure of the candidate we tried to save them from. We will win MORE converts in the Republican party if Romney wins and fails than if he loses and the Republicans can sit around for four more years blaming the democrats.

So I want Romney to win. I won't vote for him because my vote is an endorsement and I can't endorse a flagrant liar who stands for everything I oppose. But I DO want him to win and I won't do anything to try and prevent that.

Naw. The people we are dealing with are incredibly naive. Talk to any dyed in the wool democrat. All of the problems of Obama are really Bush's fault. Even the wars Obama started himself. Republicans will do the same thing. If Romney gets in, four years from now they'll still be yapping about how Romney is just cleaning up Obama's mess.

I really like Parocks suggestion of "Operation Humiliate Romney", posing as Romney supporters anywhere cameras will be and say racist, foolish and bigotted things. The media will run wild with footage like that.

That's what they did to McCain in 2008. Remember when the people would jump up and say things like "Obama is a terrorist." If I had 1 guess, I'd say FreedomWorks was behind it, but that's just a guess.

I'm not doing this. I strongly dislike Romney, but I hate Obama. Many other people agree with that view.

I am not campaigning for Romney, which my view now is. We would be better of with him in just about every aspect, but not by a huge amount, and I am wanting Rand to run in 2016. Taking down Romney though, is really just helping out Obama. And people within the GOP are noticing that. Many think Ron Paul supporters are secretly trying to help Obama get elected again, and many are. Its incredibly annoying for people like me who want progress and work within the party like Ron Paul.

Besides, attacking Romney is unproductive. If anything, it hurts us. Makes us more fringe and nutty. Makes us look like crybabies. Nobody likes those type of people in real life, and they don't like them in politics. They get thrown to the curb, deservingly so.

Productive efforts be helping liberty candidates get elected on all levels of government.

With the way the GOP treated Ron Paul and the liberty delegates, do you *seriously* believe that you can do a damn thing that will make the establishment republicans accepting of us, besides shutting up and doing what we're told by them?

That ain't happening. They're in the wrong, they're helping to ruin this country, and we aren't in this to make friends. We're in this to fix the problem called the establishment GOP. They picked a liberal for their nominee, and they'll use whatever excuse they can muster to blame his loss in November on us - regardless of what we do. Stop trying to impress them or make friends with those evil SOB's, it isn't worth it. We need to take the party back.

CARP is a fish. I don't think it's even a species found in America

not to derail the thread, but carp are found everywhere in the US. goldfish are even a kind of carp. but they are wild pretty much throughout the US (i've caught 40lb+ carp in parts of upstate NY on Lake Ontario waterways).

Attacking Romney now accomplishes nothing. While the Republican machine would be happy to have our support they would rather lose to the democrats than give liberty a foothold in the Republican party. So attacking Romney will not succeed in advancing the ball. It is being proposed out of vindictiveness. I don't cultivate vindictiveness nor do I act on it as a motivator (most of the time).

Although attacking Romney will not help the cause, what might succeed is to continue to do what we have been doing - trying to change minds and get votes by hard work and reason.

The most effective way to hit Romney where it hurts would be in the swing states. Tipping just a few out of his column is all it takes. Promoting Johnson in these places or just attacking Romney without any partisan/candidate label attached could do it.

If you are in a swing state and you vote for Johnson, you have taken 1 from Romney. So it is Romney - 1. Obama still the same.
If you are a RP supporter and you vote for Obama, you have taken one from Romney and added 1 to Obama, so it is Romney - 1, Obama + 1, or the same as Romney - 2.

I don't want to halfheartedly let the GOP know I am pissed, I want to full on let them know, so I want Romney -2. Therefore, I will cast a FU vote in my swing state.

Plus, if Flip wins, he will run again in 2016 (plus all the delegate crap they just passed) so we don't get another chance until 2020 instead of 2016 if we stay part of the corrupt GOP to take it over. As much as I can't stand Obama, I say a -2 for Romney (-1 Romney, +1 Obama) is better than just a -1 for Romney by voting Johnson.

Just for a big FU to the GOP.

I don't understand the mentality that we should work within the GOP/RNC system!

How can we work within the system if WE KNOW IT'S RIGGED! Look how we have been treated!

I say tear the whole thing down... to hell with Romney and Obama!

Only when they are ready, will they join. Until then, we press on.

While it would feel good, it would also be a massive waste of time and effort. It doesn't matter if Romney wins or loses; he's a disposable puppet for the establishment. Obama can lose or Romney can lose, but the establishment always wins.

Expending energy targeting Romney or Obama is just playing the same game we always have. I can't believe even Ron Paul supporters fall into this trap so consistently. If it's hard for us to stay on target, imagine the general population.

Spent your time and energy on getting liberty candidates elected. That's what would really hurt them.

I have never been a negative person, and that is why I have been so attracted to Ron Paul and this forum. Its not about hurting someone and making them bleed.

Romney is just the figure head for what is wrong in the Republican Party. He is not the problem, he is just its representative. If he wasn't there, someone else would be.

We need to search for positive avenues to spread our message.

My tactic to ruin Romney's coronation is to stake out a news site that allows comments in a swing state and post anti-Romney material, such as articles and videos, that illustrate his attacks on the Tea Party. We need to inform and educate the voters about what he is doing. Ridiculing Romney is a plus, too. :)

Also, what about Ron Paul supporters showing up where he is stumping, wearing their "rigged" tee-shirts and passing out fliers, with the RNC rule change that would prevent grassroots candidates to have a say in future elections. You could chant "REPEAL RULE 15"...

Michele Malkin, Sara Palin and even Freedomworks is getting in on the action. I think we can really build up momentum on this:

As you may know the Romney camp is pushing new rules, specifically Rule 15, which would strip grassroots activists of any meaningful ability to participate in presidential politics. The process has always been bottom-up, but Romney officials have rewritten the rules so that the nominee can stifle any dissent on the platform committee and even unseat delegates. Make no mistake, this will weaken the process by which Republicans chose their candidate for president and push the grassroots out of the party process.

All these arguments were made, and proved false, in 2008.

Torpedo Romney.

Make it clear, the GOP will never win another presidential election without us.
