What I like about what Shapiro said was the true about the 2Amendment, 30 round mags etc, is about protection (personal and from a tyranical Govt.) I love how Morgan was shocked by this. And asked how stupid this sounds. It is clear that Morgan has no clue about Govts going bad......gee Morgan.....lets look at Europe that basket of peace and love...for the past 2000 years. Maybe, maybe europe takes a generational break before the next war. Europe is full of examples of Govt's killing their own people.

I think the next war in Europe is becoming ever closer. To some extent, the streets in many cities across the European Union already are war zones, with daily rioting.

The kind of gun restrictions Ben was talking about aren't nearly as bad as an outright ban on semi automatic weapons, but I still fail to see how the government can determine whether someone is "mentally ill" or not.

It is depressing that this little neo-con twerp is the best voice we have in the mainstream media.

What's so neo-connish about him? The only thing I can think of is that he likes screening for gun buyers. Okay, no our favorite thing, but all of the other points are very well made. He's a very bright person, so I wish him well in debating all these people as long as he gets the point across that gun control doesn't help and that gun rights are not just for hunting.

I was flipping through the channels yesterday afternoon while being laid out sick and caught a segment on CNN during which this seemingly intelligent fellow made the comment that "handguns are responsible for more deaths in this country than assault rifles..." etc., etc., the implication being, of course, that "we" must "do something" about handguns.

What kind of discussion would you expect to be able to have with an otherwise intelligent adult who would make such a comment, and all the implications which go along with it?

I don't think that's the implication he was intending, it was supposed to be simply that it's illogical to try to ban assault rifles when they're not the main problem.

Not that it matters. But I was just looking at the history of UK's gun control laws, and found this interesting:

The Hungerford massacre occurred in Hungerford, Berkshire, England, on 19 August 1987. The gunman, 27-year-old Michael Robert Ryan (b. 18 May 1960), armed with two semi-automatic rifles and a handgun, shot and killed sixteen people including his mother, and wounded fifteen others, then fatally shot himself. A report on this incident was commissioned by the Home Secretary, Douglas Hurd, from the Chief Constable of Thames Valley Police, Colin Smith. It remains, along with the 1996 Dunblane massacre and the 2010 Cumbria shootings, one of the worst criminal atrocities involving firearms in British history.

The Firearms (Amendment) Act 1988[2] was passed in the wake of the massacre, which banned the ownership of semi-automatic centre-fire rifles and restricted the use of shotguns with a capacity of more than three cartridges (in magazine plus the breech). Ryan's collection of weapons had been legally licensed, according to the Hungerford Report.

The Dunblane school massacre occurred at Dunblane Primary School in the Scottish town of Dunblane on 13 March 1996. The gunman, 43-year-old Thomas Hamilton (b. 10 May 1952), entered the school armed with four handguns, shooting and killing sixteen children and one adult before committing suicide. Along with the 1987 Hungerford massacre and the 2010 Cumbria shootings, it remains one of the deadliest criminal acts involving firearms in the history of the United Kingdom.

Public debate subsequent to these events centred on gun control laws, including public petitions calling for a ban on private ownership of handguns and an official enquiry, the Cullen Report. In response to this debate, the Firearms (Amendment) Act 1997 and the Firearms (Amendment) (No. 2) Act 1997 were enacted, which effectively made private ownership of handguns illegal in the United Kingdom.

This is of course historical proof positive that we are correct, and that Piers Morgan is a liar. He of course knows the above history. He knows banning semi-auto rifles would just mean killers would use handguns, and kill just as many people. He knows that the gun grabbers have no intent of stopping with assault weapons. He's seen it.
