Before you write-in Paul, check your local state rules

Many states allow write-ins, but will only count them as "undervotes". Just because a "write-in" spot is there does not mean it will actually get counted in the end.

If your state treats write-ins as such, a louder statement would be to settle on a 3rd party candidate. Whether it's Libertarian, Constitution Party, whatever... just check the rules in your state before thinking that you're making a "statement" by writing in Ron Paul.

Sad but that's the way it is.

SA has already addressed this.

A 10 percent "undervote" could only be attributed to one thing.

Sorry let me clarify.. not only undervote, but not counted AT ALL. In Illinois, for example, election rules state that since Ron Paul ran as a Republican unsuccessfully, hey may NOT run as a third-party candidate and no write-in votes will be counted.

Not sure about other states.

i honestly don't care if write-ing in Ron Paul not only didn't count, but got me 50 lashes. I'm still writing him in. Period.

On the off chance he's on the ballot somehow, even better.

NOBP.

Even an 'undervote' is a 'none of the above vote', it is someone who bothered to vote, but refused to vote for President for anyone on the ballot. I may be able to get Ron as a certified write in in my state, but even that sort of 'none of the above' better states how I feel than voting for a candidate I don't want, when I can write in Ron.

Even in Illinois (where I lived at one time) they count the number of voters and the number for the named presidential candidates. The others are 'none of the above' votes for President

Rules smools.

Ron Paul WILL be on my ballot...after I write him in.

That's fine too, I'm not advocating one way or another. But in many states and jurisdictions, that vote will be discarded. It may not be counted as "other", it may not be counted as "undervote", it is simply thrown away, period.

If it's writing in Ron Paul to feel better for yourself, I'm all for that. But some people may want their vote to actually be a "protest" vote or actually get counted in one way or another, so I am just trying to inform folks to check their local election laws before writing in Ron Paul, if they want it counted at all.

That they voted will be counted, and that they didn't vote for a name on the ballot. That is enough counting for many of us. WE can spread that number, if it is large.

I have one concern regarding this since it is the most likely outcome: Is there any chance that the obviously corrupt GOP can count my vote for Dr. Paul as a vote for Romney since they are both Republicans? Sorry for my ignorance, but in light of recent events that kind of corruption wouldn't surprise me at all.

Not without just cheating in which case they could do it with any vote or no vote. They would have to change your vote.

I have often wondered how they knew who the winner was before they counted the votes. Now I know.

Well, you saw how they cheat and change the rules for the primary, I guess it's no wonder they feel they can change the rules for anything they want, any time they want.

It would be interesting to have two elections, one official and the other unofficial and everybody who votes in one, votes in the other and see how closely they match.

It probably will be.

Regardless, this is a microcosm of other "go along to get along" type of moves.

If voting is as serious as the establishment would have you believe, then you could no more alter your vote "make it count" any more than you could betray your family.

If your eyes have been opened, there is no other moral choice than to write in Ron Paul.

Unless voting is bullshit.
