Been Asked To Speak On Rons behalf. Need Help ASAP!

I've had a LOT, and I mean a LOT of positive responses from people when I mention that he will only take $39,000 a year as presidential salary.

Don't cut that, whatever you do.

Man I wish I had more than 24 hours to do this! Revision #1

Good evening

My name is xxx, I am a entrepreneur and owner of a online advertising company based here in Lebanon NH. I have the great pleasure tonight to speak on the behalf of Congressman Ron Paul.
Congressman Ron Paul is a family man who has been married for over 50 years. He is a doctor and was a flight surgeon in the Air Force. Congressman Paul's Conservative message rings true with our military. In the 2nd and 3rd quarter Congressman Paul has raised over $133,000 from active duty military. That is almost twice as much raised by Obama and more than all other republican candidates combined.

That conservatism can be judged by his voting record and according to a study done by the University of Georgia Congressman, Ron Paul has the most conservative and consistent voting record of any member of congress since 1937.

Sticking to his conservative values Congressman Paul has never voted :
To Increase Taxes
On an unbalanced budget
For federal restrictions on guns.
To increase the power of the executive branch.
To regulate the internet
Congressman Paul also does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program
He also returns a portion of his congressional office budget to the treasury every year.
He has never voted for a bailout or stimulus spending.
All his votes reflect the original intent of the Constitution.

Congressman Paul, who is the chair of the Financial Services Subcommittee Domestic Monetary Policy, has long fought to get a full and complete audit of the federal reserve and has recently won a small victory, in that fight, receiving a partial audit of the Fed.
That small audit of the Federal Reserve has reveled, that in secret, Ben Bernanky authorized 16 trillion dollars in bank bailouts. More astonishing yet 5 trillion of those dollars were given to foreign banks.
This is why as part of the Paul Budget plan is to rein in the power of the Federal Reserve while completing a full audit. The Paul Budget Plan recognizes the seriousness of our debt and currency crisis. That is why Ron Paul will propose to cut 1 trillion dollars from the federal budget in year one, while eliminating five federal departments.
The Paul Plan to Restore America Now will balance the budget in 3 years by
Eliminate HUD
Eliminate the department of Energy
Eliminate the department of commerce
Eliminate the department of interior
Eliminate the department of Education, bringing education back where it belongs, to the parents, teachers and local communities.
End all foreign aide and the nation building that comes along with it.
He will reduce the federal work force by 10%. Paul will do this through attrition. Meaning he will freeze federal hiring.
Paul will call for a full repeal of Obamacare, Dodd-Frank and repeal other job killing regulations.
Congressman Paul will lower the cooperate tax rate to 15%. This will help bring jobs back and spur the economy.
And finally my personal favorite; He will cut the presidential salary from $400,000/year to just over $39,000/year which is the median income for a citizen.

All of this can be done while lowering the debt and honoring our promises to our seniors and veterans.
This plan will deliver what America needs in these difficult times: Major regulatory relief, large spending cuts, sound monetary policy, a balanced budget and maybe most importantly bring capital and jobs back.

Thank you for allowing me to speak tonight and I hope you consider voting for Ron Paul in the upcoming primary.

I'm sorry but it's more of an informative lecture rather than a speech, so I'm giving you a hand.

Here's your speech, you can thank me later.

Good evening

In 1980, only four congressmen endorsed Ronald Reagan for the nomination of the Republican Party. The establishment and the media dismissed Reagan as unelectable. Today, one of those congressmen seeks the nomination of Ronald Reagan’s party, and they say the very same thing.

They ignore, they laugh, and they dismiss this man who stands so strongly for one principle... Liberty.

They would have us believe liberty is an antiquated notion best left to the history books. A dream Reagan tried for but failed.

They are wrong.

No other candidate has Ron Paul’s consistent record of supporting the founding doctrine of this country, the Constitution.

Sticking to his conservative values Congressman Paul has never voted :
- To Increase Taxes
- On an unbalanced budget
- For federal restrictions on guns.
- To increase the power of the executive branch.
- To regulate the internet
- To bailout a bank
- To waste tax payer’s dollars on ineffective stimulus spending

Congressman Paul also does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program. Unlike other representatives, he knows that while Americans suffer, it is unjust to take more of their money to benefit the most unpopular congress in history.

Not long ago, Ron Paul unveiled his Plan to Restore America.

His plan cuts 1 trillion dollars of spending in his first year of office by,
Eliminating Five Departments including Education and Housing and Urban Development.

It does all this without cutting Social Security and Medicare to those who have been promised it.

In 3 years, his plan balances the budget.

The Plan to Restore America saves hundreds of billions of dollars by Bringing the Troops Home, not in staged withdrawals, but immediately. The savings from waging pointless foreign wars will ensure that Social Security and Medicare can be funded, rather than existing as bankrupt programs as they are today. It will also ensure we can protect our own borders, rather than the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

On this point, it should be said that Ron Paul has received more donations from Active Military Personnel than all the other Republican candidates combined, and he has even received more than Obama. They want to come home, and after a decade of war only Ron Paul will deliver on that promise.

Thank you for allowing me to speak tonight and I hope you consider voting for Ron Paul in the upcoming primary.

The only problem is that it's long and needs editing.

I would figure out why the campaign wants you and pander to that. If its because of your business then they probably want you to speak about how freeing the market, less regulation... is going to help your business...I could be wrong though I was once before

If there's a lot of seniors in the crowd, I'd be sure to specifically mention that he won't just cut their social security.

In fact point out the fact that not only will Paul NOT cut social security but his budget has found a way to cut a trillion dollars from the budget, end the wars, and balance the budget in 3 yrs, while actually increasing immediate benefits for those on social security. He is the only one doing so.

In 1976, only four congressmen endorsed Ronald Reagan. In 1980 he was the nominee,...

Winning....ill put this in my own voice. Thanking you now.

Definitely mention military donations and that he was the only one to predict the housing crisis.

These are both good. I would bring a copy of his budget plan and offer to let anyone that's interested look at it (or have a copy). If you say dept. will be cut, you should add that some essential functions, such as gov't student loans will be transferred to other departments. The 2 areas I've really seen conservatives complaining about are that he's going to leave us vulnerable to military attacks AND he will get rid of student loans. The 2nd myth is very easy to dispel.

Our local repubs are mostly older--definitely mention that he's the only one to keep SS secure by his budget cuts.

When I read the original speech, it ran me about 3 1/2 minutes...

I think the other people have some great suggestions. Probably contrasting Paul with the others on bailouts and the fed along with observing that he is the only one who saw the crises coming would be better than the list (of no tax increases, no unbalanced budget, etc). That might shorten it up a bit too.

Razare = on the money

Great edits. The only thing I would add would be to finish with a personal anecdote that you're confident many in the hall can relate to or connect with on an emotional/temporal level.

Most people don't pick presidents based on some bullet points, promises or plans to restore the economy, they pick them based on whether or not the candidate (or one of his supporters) inspires them that a better life is possible through the ideas/ideals that he champions.... and demonstrates that he has the capacity to understand them (and their lot in life) on a real/genuine level.

So tell a story... a moving story about how Paul has inspired you, whether through his words, deeds and/or life-story, to overcome some challenge or hardship and become a better, more fulfilled "American/New Hampshirian/etc/individual" ...

Revision 2.

Good evening My name is xxx, I am a entrepreneur and owner of a online advertising company based here in Lebanon NH. I have the great pleasure tonight to speak on the behalf of Congressman Ron Paul.

In 1976, Ron Paul was one of 4 congressmen to endorse Ronald Reagan for the nomination of the Republican Party. The establishment and the media dismissed Reagan as unelectable. Today, Ron Paul seeks the nomination of Ronald Reagan’s party, and they say the very same thing. They ignore, they laugh, and they dismiss this man who stands so strongly for one principle... Liberty.

They would have us believe liberty is an antiquated notion best left to the history books. A dream Reagan tried but American‘s were not quite ready for. They are wrong.

No other candidate has Ron Paul’s consistent record of supporting the founding doctrine of this country, the Constitution. His voting record reflects this. In a study done by the University of Georgia they found Ron Paul to be the most conservative member of congress since 1937.

Not long ago, Ron Paul unveiled his Plan to Restore America. His plan cuts 1 trillion dollars of spending in his first year of office by, Eliminating Five Departments including Education and Housing and Urban Development.

It does all this without cutting Social Security and Medicare to those who have been promised it.

In 3 years, his plan balances the budget. The Plan to Restore America saves hundreds of billions of dollars by ending nation building immediately.
The savings from ending nation building will ensure that Social Security and Medicare can be funded, rather than existing as bankrupt programs as they are today.

His plan also involves a complete audit of the federal reserve. Thanks to Ron Paul we were recently able to get a partial audit of the fed. This small audit found that the fed, in secret, provided 16 trillion in bailout money to banks. And even worse, 5 trillion of that money went to foreign banks. This is why we need a full and complete audit.

It will also ensure we can protect our own borders, rather than the border between Libya and Egypt. On this point, it should be said that Ron Paul has received more donations from Active Military Personnel than all the other Republican candidates combined, and he has even received more than Obama. The troops want to return to a sound constitutional government and not be used in NATO and UN wars.

With the rise of the Tea Party I believe that America is now ready to return to small government principles. This is why I support Ron Paul for President. I thank you for allowing me to speak tonight and I hope you consider voting for Ron Paul in the upcoming primary.

Quick word of advice from someone who goes to Toastmasters...

Memorize and make clear the beginning of your speech and the end.

Those are the two biggest parts.

Use hand movements and gestures.

Vary the tone of your voice to emphasize buzz words.

And smile.

:)

good luck

oh ya, and try to avoid saying "Um, Uh, like, and 'you know'"

I assume someone will be introducing you. Have THEM explain who you are and who you are speaking for.

With that in mind, I took Razare's excellent revision, took the intro out and made it a little more concise.

Good evening,

Congressman Paul also does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program. He believes in -and has the integrity to- save for his own retirement.

Not long ago, Ron Paul unveiled his Plan to Restore America. It strengthens our economy mainly by lessening the load that taxpayers have to shoulder.

His plan cuts 1 trillion dollars of spending in his first year of office by,
Eliminating Five Departments including Education and Housing and Urban Development.

It does all this while strengthening Social Security and Medicare.

In 3 years, his plan balances the budget.

This link may be helpful: http://www.pbs.org/standarddeviantstv/transcript_public.html It indicates that you should allow 125-150 words per minute. For a 3 minute speech, that would be 375-450 words.
