Back in 2008 when Ron Paul suspended his presidential campaign he had the famous (infamous?) third party press conference urging people to reject both main candidates. The lineup included Chuck Baldwin on the right, Cynthia McKinney and Ralph Nader on the left. The pinciples they esposed was 1) rejecting illegal foreign wars 2) protecting the privacy of American Citizens 3) ending corporate subsidies and bailouts 4) halting an increase in the national debt, 5) aggressively pursing corporations that commit crimes and frauds. (See: https://www.votenader.org/blog/2008/09/10/statement-to-ron-paul-supporters/)
Missing from this platform was pursuing mass deportation (Tom Tancredo's agenda), pushing Christian conservativsm in governmetn (Mike Huckabee's agenda), and agressively attacking black history and anything seen at all as helpful to black people along with promoting white supremacy (David Dukes agenda)., and putting Israel first in everything (Rudy GIuliani, Ted Cruz and just about every other Republican's agenda). Trump 1.0 flirted with those agendas. Trump 2.0 is actively pursuing them to the delight and joy of half of Ron Paul supporters I still see actively posting here.
The one thing we seemed united on in 2008 was that John McCain was a trash candidate for joking about "bomb, bomb, bomb Iran." And now John McCain's joke is our new nightmare. God protected America from its own stupidity by alllowing Obama to beat John McCain. ONE good thing Trump did in his 2016 campaign was to seemingly crush John McCain's legacy, though in a disgusting way (attacking him for being a POW instead of attacking him on the real issues). Still a win's a win right? Wrong! Had he attacked John McCain on the real issue, that bombing a country that hadn't attacked us and had actually tried to make PEACE with the United States back in 2003 was a stupid boneheaded move, he might not have felt "free" to do the bidding of his AIPAC masters. But noooo... Trump had to win by being a schoolyard bully as opposed to being an actual statement. He's a man of no principles, just showmanship and now someone else is pulling his puppet strings. In contrast Obama, for all his faults, spent LESS than Trump, ended at least one of the wars he inherited from Dubya, did start wars in Libya and Syria but minor players by comparison. How is Trump stacking up against the 2008 principles?
1) Foreign wars? Yeah. Just started potentially the worst war of the 21st century.
2) Protecting privacy of American Citizens? He gave Elon Musk access to your Social Security data and sold everything else to Musk buddy Peter Thiel who owns Palantir. Alex Jones used to warn about "Total information awarness." Palantir is TIA "privatized."
3) Ending corporate subsidies and bailouts? LOL. He let Blackrock write the COVID bailout in 2019 months before WHO declared COVID an emergency. He only recently threateneded Elon Musk's subsidies for SpaceX and Tesla after Elon basically called him a pedophile.
4) Halting an increase in the national debt? Big Beautiful Bill anybody?
5) Aggressively pursing corporations that commit crimes and frauds? Nope. Not unless Target previously deciding to offer shelf space to black owned businesses is now somehow a "crime." (I know that makes the white supremacists happy).
By every practical measure, Donald J. Trump is now the worst president in U.S. history from a pro liberty perspective BY FAR! And that doesn't even get into his blatant violation of due process. HE LOST 9-0 AT SCOTUS BECAUSE HE INSISTED HE HAD THE RIGHT TO DEPORT SOMEONE TO A FOREIGN FREAKING PRISON! Even Trump supporter Joe Rogan called that HORRIFIC citing the case of the gay Venezuelan barber WITH NO CRIMINAL RECORD OR CONNECTION TO GANGS being deported to a supermax El Salvador prison!
The PLAN Ron Paul came up with post 2008 / 2012 was to infiltrate and take over the GOP and change it from the inside. It seems the only thing that has been co-opted is the Ron Paul movement. I don't give a damn who gets pissed by me saying this. If you're mad at this post YOU are the problem. I joined the Ron Paul movement because I didn't want my sons to have to fight in some stupid war. And now Trump has taken a GIANT step in that direction. Fck him and fck you if you still support him.
