Ballot Initiative in California will Legalize Marijuana in 2010!!

No but they'll start arresting growers and make examples out of them and scare people into submission, you know, the usual government tactics.

Sorry but you are reading the political landscape wrong. If this passes, the Feds will do nothing, aside from maybe threatening to withhold funds or something.

Right. Because of the Federal Government's long and consistent history of respecting States' rights.

Not if anyone and everyone with a plot of land would plant hemp. Which grows super fast, apparently practically amongst rock . . . hence, the name WEED.

LOW maintenance, ironically enough, it was VITAL to our galvanization for World War II.

They are MINDLESSLY, STUPIDLY, WASTEFULLY, STILL trying to eradicate WW II hemp in the Midwest.

It'll be a different story after Monsanto & Gang buy up all the arable land.

DEMAND THE RIGHT TO GROW A CASH CROP ON YOUR OWN LAND. Not marijuana -- which, being a mind-altering substance, Regular Folk will leave to the professionals -- but Hemp.

Hemp is an Emerging Industry.

Government is prohibiting the citizenry from making a living.

From where I sit, it falls under Conspiracies in Restraint of Trade. Those are NO NO NO NO NO NO NO in a Free Market.

Somewhere there is tape to roll, of Barack Obama's campaign vow to proactively HALT raids of medical marijuana pharmacies by hooded men brandishing weapons and claiming to be DEA, who then empty the pharmacies of their entire inventories.

Audits all around. How do the pharmacy losses compare with net, what, evidence that the pharmacies are engaged in the business for which they pay taxes, licenses and fees to engage?

I pay Sales Tax on marijuana for which I am obliged to have a prescription, though my punitive legislators drink like fish, but if I cross state line I could be imprisoned.

I have been half-way across this country and back, and clear across this country and back, and many times up and down my state -- I have yet to talk to ONE person who isn't on board with the decriminalization of hemp for industry and marijuana, to be regulated akin to alcohol.

It's a no-brainer.

Where is the pressure to do it NOW? There is nothing magic about 2010, except that our straights will be more dire.

They passed EMERGENCY LEGISLATION in Washington DC to keep the BARS OPEN LONGER during the Great Non-White Hypocrite's Inauguration WEEK. Y'know, the one with TEN Inaugural Balls all OVERFLOWING with booze.

In Louisiana the tax stamp for marijuana states a $3.50 tax on each gram... ouch.

Even if that tax if for premium buds only its quite high. It would eradicate mexican poo poo sales completely.

The people who are saying that the Feds would round up millions of Californians and besiege the state if it passes legal weed are simply incorrect. They are failing to accurately read the political landscape. In short, they are completely wrong. If this gets on the ballot and passes in CA, the floodgates will be open and we will see weed begin to be legalized across America rather quickly. Bet on it.

Not that Barack Obama isn't working double-time to change it, but not even THEY have the manpower. The prisons are full . . . not least with pot smokers.

All non-violent pot smokers should be released -- here, here's an apology and a Clean Slate, if you'll just sign this waiver of liability. We surely can't afford a slew of THOSE reparations.

They are failing to accurately read the political landscape. In short, they are completely wrong.

THEY may be, but the politicians know EXACTLY what they're doing. The politicians -- who are unmistakably in cahoots with Big Pharmaceuticals and Big Medical (ergo, Big Insurance) -- are MANIPULATING the political landscape.

Divide & Conquer, at the prurient interest level where people mind each other's business instead of the state of the union, is Incite & Fragment . . . what war?

Already have. It's that, or reinstate Prohibition of alcohol. Fair's fair.

I'm all for playing the Discrimination card here, too.

Marijuana and hemp are low-hanging fruit, both for generation of revenue and mitigation of expense.

Steadfast refusal to pick low-hanging fruit BROADCASTS duplicity and ill-will.

Discrimination. Conspiracy in Restraint of Trade.

No fear.

Vaporize an oz a week? Thats a complete waste of weed. I could see that if you were blowing blunts all day but vaping saves sooo much. You can recycle it over and over with a vaporizer and then after you have vaped you can save that until you get enuf to roll a joint and blow that out and get just as retarded as if you didn't vape it before hand. If anyone is toking that much they need to take a break for a few days to lower their tolerance. :D

Lol.. uh... no? Unless you like smoking brown weed that tastes that burnt popcorn that doesn't get you high. Then yes.

Vaporizing an ounce in a few days happens a lot more then you would think.... there are a lot of stoners out there you know.. some with more money/time then others lol.

Weed is pretty much legal here in Eugene... The police are not aloud to use city funds to enforce marijuana laws (THATS THE WAY TO DO IT)

Kitty Percy (our mayor) set out a week to recognize medical marijuana.

Lol... a bit over the top in my opinion, but its good to know the city doesn't care.

I hope this passes but California won't see a dime, the Federal Government will see to that. Then California will have to decide whether to fight it. Maybe this can be the catalyst for a secession movement

Lost Taxes and Other Costs of Marijuana Laws
A Special Report in the October, 2007 issue of the Bulletin of Cannabis Reform

Government reports from the Office of National Drug Control Policy, the Library of Congress, and other sources indicate that the supply of marijuana in the United States is 14,349 metric tons, or 31.1 million pounds. Various price indexes from public and private sources produce a retail price of $7.87/gr or $3,570/lb, setting the overall retail value of the illicit marijuana market at $113 billion. Government reports indicate that the nation's marijuana laws cost taxpayers $41.8 billion annually. The Office of Management and Budget reports that local, state, and the federal government receipts represent 28.7% of the gross domestic product as tax revenue. The diversion of $113 billion from the taxable economy into the illicit economy deprives taxpayers of $31.1 billion annually. Marijuana arrests cost taxpayers $10.7 billion annually. Read the full report of the tremendous annual cost of marijuana prohibition in the lcurrent issue of the Bulletin of Cannabis Reform.
