Baby boomer nostalgia is already oppressive. It’s about to get so much worse.

I have to see Bruce Jenner Anne the Kardashian's every time I go into a store, listen to domestic abuse psa,s every time a football game is on but damn that boomer nostalgia!

Look how big this generation is, by some mythological standard. Do you realize that about half of the Baby Boomers are still working? And their paychecks are being siphoned away to pay for retirees living large and college students also living large? Neither generation feels obligated to forego tax deductions on second or third homes, or repay a college loan that's bigger than my mortgage? Boomers can't pay for their own kids' education, but are footing the bill for millions of others. The Baby Boomers born after 1950 will not be able to retire comfortably on their savings because too many people demand a piece of the pie and never pay a dime in.

I'm not the one who voted for this nonsense. I would vote for a vastly different way of life--one that gives me complete control over my own money. We are nowhere near retiring, but because of the way the law is written, we are fast approaching a time when we will have to take manditory minimum withdrawals so we can be taxed on our savings? And did you know that people who work full time past age 65 are forced out of private insurance plans and forced onto Medicare? We are nowhere near that age, but because the early half of our generation is selfish and expects to be handed an easy life on a platter, the younger boomers will be forced to work will past age 70. That works pretty well for people who have expensive educations and have desk jobs, but not so much for people like me who didn't have an inheritance and make a living by working hard.

Like I said before, I have never lived a single day without the government reaching into my home and checkbook to take away most of what I have.
I do realize boomers are still working. I finally caved and begged my boss to hire my dad on as clerical staff at $12 on the weekends, because otherwise I will never finish paying off their ever-increasing debt. Now, at least, he can help. He didn't need help charging up credit cards, though, and making godawful decisions that only come to light once it's too late for me to fix them.

Second or third home? Who are these people? Oh yes, those retirees living large... like grandma, who's in a home and isn't sure whether it's 2015 or 1950 most days, and who had to "spend down" in order to get into the SNF in the first place. Student loans? None of us finished college, though I managed to convince people that this doesn't make me a complete idiot, and have always managed to find a job or two to pay the bills.

Boohoo Boomers. Guess what? Another thread talked about their generation being the first "sandwich" generation that had to pay for parents AND kids at the same time... but the same pool of money is now paying for me, mom, dad, grandma's "incidentals," and things my niece and nephew and sister need. This sandwich is top-heavy. I'm not going to see any Social Security benefits, I'm definitely not retiring, and my grandmother will likely outlive us all.

In other words, get over yourselves and the finger-pointing. Every generation --- every person --- alive now is completely and utterly fucked, unless they are one of a few dozen who are actually getting to do the fucking.

? My grandparents never stopped listening to Big Band, and my parents still stick with 50's rock with a mix of classic country. It would be weird if they abandoned that and these days were bopping their heads to "All About The Bass."

I am considered a boomer but neither me nor my friends are wearing huge hair or leg warmers these days

What I find quirky is that the GenX and Millennials listen to classic rock That would like me and my friends listening to the Big Bopper and Bill Haley as we drove around mindlessly in pursuit of the ever-elusive something to do.

Dear. I happened to LIKE. "huge hair and leg warmers"
and miss them very much.. :(

this thread is like trying to ignore that Def Leppard was WAY too much fun.
or, that "leg warmers and huge hair" were a turn off.

I guess the libprogs have got to blame someone, and since there are so many conservative Christian boomers.....

Yeah, that's why Ron always got <~2 from this demographic. As comparably worse as Rand is (and as much sucking up as he has done to this generation) he's even doing worse with them than Ron did! Ha. Tell me more about these great Boomers! Guess how much of my generation Ron picked up? If it was only my generation voting he'd won, but nah, those great boomers had to vote too.

What generation is that? The one who showed up for rallies, but couldn't bother themselves to go to the voting booth?

It wasn't she who was doing the finger pointing. If you had read the thread, you would have seen it is just another in RPF's long list of baby boomer bashing threads. Some liberty-lovers here. HA!

If your parents and grandparents spent more than they had, then that's on them. It's rather stupid to blame a generation for something THEY chose to do. Own it.
