AZ GOP chair tries to bribe Kari Lake into not running for US Senate

To this I say...

we need names.

The whole point of getting names is to be wiser about who runs us and disincentivize these swamp goons to try stuff like this. Even if the only result is public humiliation and shame, that's enough reason for most of these people not to want to bother. They are living comfortable lives trying to control things from the dark. Turn the light on and see if they still do it or if they scurry back into their holes.

Yeah, I get it. Names would be nice. I was just saying that it doesn't begin to solve the problem. You may shame one or two, but they'll be backfilled quicker than the trigger finger of a cop when a chihuahua yips.

Backroom deals, lobbyists, campaign finance... They're all after the power. Striking at the branches may give you a temporary sense of satisfaction, but it does nothing to resolve the problem. The root is the power they're after. And it will attract the kinds of people who want power without the effort of satisfying the needs of the market.

Isn't the root pretty much, erm, Satan?

If you need to personify it, then yes. Or you could just call it evil.

From the utilitarian point of view for this thread - it would simply be that government has too much power over individual choice and commerce. If we don't drastically reduce that power (evil), then we have to keep expecting backroom deals, bribes, threats, and actions to keep happening.

Hence the warnings from the founders about always have to keep it in check. It's tough because these people in service to their father below are psychopaths and most people are not so are disadvantaged in that respect. Predators are predators 100% of the time, always scheming to win and get over on everyone else, which is not the nature of a normal person values and takes for granted things like trust. There's just no relaxing around predators.

Are you familiar with the paper and book Political Ponerology? It was written by a Polish psychiatrist who survived both Nazi occupation and communist enslavement. His getting this to print is a moving and amazing story and it affirms the psychopath thing, which is always the same, across time and space. I didn't mean to sound over simplistic with the "Satan" comment but, damn, it is what it is, by any name.

Thanks for the rep CaptUSA and you may also want to check out The Demon in Democracy, Totalitarian Temptations in Free Societies, by another Pole. It's about liberal democracy resolving to communism. Here's a pretty good review and summary:

I don't get this. You're correctly identifying the incentive problem and then mischaracterizing something that would help shift the incentives as local and not global, while at the same time proposing no global solutions.

If we the people, the grassroots, were more adept at cutting through the BS and actually putting our brains toward following the money in an honest way, the swamp beasts would lose much of their ability to manipulate from the dark. For most of them, power is only good when they can live in comfort and their lives are too luxurious to want to risk being in the center of controversy.

The public consciousness is somewhat evolving in this regard and there's no reason it needs to mostly remain on the liberal side (see: the anti-Super PAC folks over there). Unlike liberals though, I believe the counter to mass manipulation is mass intellectual resistance in the form of awareness and immunization to their efforts.

Once people know something is happening, they're a lot less likely be guided by malicious manipulators. Do you think people would vote for Nikki Haley if they realized that the whole campaign is basically an elite psy-op?

I didn't pay much attention to this when it first surfaced but I came across a thread on another forum.

I have yet to listen to the audio but apparently he makes reference to the 2020 Steal as though it's common knowledge.

Also something about a "cartel" being active in all 50 states, not the Mexicans but a type of political cartel that controls politics.

So was Ron Paul bribed to drop out?
Was DeSantis bribed to drop out?
Was Chris Christie bribed to drop out?

I don't think they bribe a person that isn't a threat to their agenda.
