Ayn Rand on Israel and the Middle East

That's true.

Even Ron Paul supports Israel, but doesn't want to give Foreign Aid to them.

And thats why I love Dr. Paul. Some of the comments Ive been reading on this forum as of late related to Israel Hamas Conflict is disturbing. Some of the stuff are things I have seen on leftist forums and blogs.

Thank you sir.

Thank you sir.

Ron has called the conditions in Palestine a "concentration camp" and he just this week said the Palestinians have been held in bondage by Israel. So there's that, too.

And who cares if a leftist forum or blog makes an argument? The fact that an idea appears there doesn't make it invalid, same as an idea appearing on a rightwing blog doesn't make it correct or valid.

This lays out why it isn't sufficient to merely say "both sides are at fault," or cry "non-intervention!" whenever a squabble arises.

The samson option makes israel look like a terrorist state. It also makes the whole iran cant be trusted with nukes argument rather silly

You do know its not true? It was something alleged by people like Arafat, Hussein and the leaders of Hezbollah. Israel has come many times in its history to the brink of its destruction. A few of those times it had access to nuclear arsenal, and it never used it nor even threatened to use it. Not many other countries with nuclear arsenals can say the same. Israel as a nation has more than proved its responsible enough to maintain a nuclear arsenal.

Its actually a professor named Martin van Creveld, who is a professor of Israeli history in Israel. So its not these Islamic radicals that coined this phrase, it might not be "official policy" of the Israelis, but its not some made up term by their enemies either.

He is quoted as saying
"We possess several hundred atomic warheads and rockets and can launch them at targets in all directions, perhaps even at Rome. Most European capitals are targets for our air force. Let me quote General Moshe Dayan: 'Israel must be like a mad dog, too dangerous to bother.' I consider it all hopeless at this point. We shall have to try to prevent things from coming to that, if at all possible. Our armed forces, however, are not the thirtieth strongest in the world, but rather the second or third. We have the capability to take the world down with us. And I can assure you that that will happen before Israel goes under".

As for your claim that "Israel as a nation has more than proved its responsible enough to maintain a nuclear arsenal."

They are one of 4 countries in the world that have not signed the Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty.

I do not want Israel to fall or its people to suffer. However its not the US peoples responsibility to keep them safe, nor anyone elses. I truly believe that if peace is ever to be achieved in that region, it needs to not be meddled with by other countries.

I agree with what your saying and its very reasonable. I only wish some others on this forum would accept this as the official libertarian policy to the issues in the region.
As for the History professor coining the term it still doesnt lend any more credibility to the ridiculous concept.
