--> ATTENTION! West Virginia GOP Winner Determined on 30 NOV<---

He was always in grave danger of that. As you can see, the outcome will depend entirely on the undeclared delegates and probably very few of them like Ron Paul at the moment. I really think that to win this we need more than a targeted mailing.

A) We'll need a strong placing in Iowa and NH (and an increase in the national polls) to show he's a "legitimate" candidate. They don't want to be "throwing their vote away."
B) We'll need to send our best representatives (preferably from WV) to personally convince them that RP is the best candidate for them. We'll need to address every concern they might have or attacks from the media. We'll need to followup (by phone, email or in person) in case they pick up more before the convention.

The early staes will decide the momentum, the uncommited delegates will go with the flow. We will have the people on the ground to continue that momentum in WV should it come.

First and foremost we need to come in 3rd at the first vote at the convention, with what we already have and some good converts from our outreach efforts to the uncommitteds that might be possible. If we make it past the 1st vote, we'll make news that day.

Kanawha County has 121 at large delegates running for a slate of 51.

Here's the breakdown:

31 Mitt Romney
28 Uncommitted
20 Ron Paul
16 Rudy Guliani
11 Mike Huckabee
10 Fred Thompson
3 Alan Keyes
2 John Mccain

Alan Keyes has more delegates than John Mccain in Kanawha county.

I think that is just too funny.

I went to a dinner theater thing a couple of weeks ago, and at my table was this couple from Doddridge County. They were Republicans, and we got to talking politics.

The guy asked me with a straight face if I thought Alan Keyes could win in WV.

I still laugh about that sometimes.

I think Alan Keyes is actually a better candidate for the job then McCain.

He opposes the income tax, he's better on guns and regulation.

I don't have a beef with Alan Keyes except for I think he would use the government as the morality police and that bothers me. He has some good stances on some issues.

Just in from the Convention Chairman:

Folks, (bcc: to a number of campaigns)

We are working through a very large number of delegate filings and trying to get them entered in the database. I'm sure you saw in the press that we had over 200 pieces of mail that was picked up on Monday and Tuesday. Each piece is being examined for postmark and we are working to post those with November 30 or earlier postmarks.

The volume is higher than suggested by the 200 pieces of mail as many had multiple applications, such as from families, executive committees, or campaigns.

We will have an update to the file today about 4:00 PM, reflecting where we are in the process. Additional updates will be posted as quickly as those forms can be processed.

I will also advise you to expect that a very small number of applications may be later removed if their payment was not received by the deadline. As you know, frequently committees sent one check for several applications and those checks are in the office.

Anyone watching this?

I made a copy of every check I wrote and sent in with each application...Maybe my "hyper-paranoia" was not so far-fetched? In fact, I scanned a copy of each form, check and envelope I sent in.

Ok, good, now check down all of the rest of Paul delegates and report back. We'll wait. :D
