Atlanta Security Guard At it Again!

I know this guy was the property owner, and not law enforcement, but in general I think tazers are disguising, makes me feel sick every time I see one being used.

I recall them being introduced in my country as a "less lethal" alternative to a firearm, which I think is fine. But then the measure for using one needs to be that the use of a firearm would otherwise have been appropriate. Almost every time I see a tazer used, a firearm would not have been appropriate.

Today they seem to be used as a device for threatening electrocution in order to gain compliance. Basically the threat of torture.

Granted this guy was apparently trying to exercise his property rights, but I still think the tazer, like the drone, has so much scope to be abused it seems to me to be an almost entirely negative instrument. Makes me shudder.

I am not gonna say you are wrong, but I have to wonder if hitting the lady with the baton would have been better.

So, you'd let people deal drugs on your property?

Regardless of my opinion on whether people should be allowed to put whatever they want in their bodies, I also have a right to keep that shit off my property.

If nothing else they are conducting business without paying rent to do so.

Wanna sell weed in my mall? Sure, $500 a month rent due the first.

I can tell ya what his problem is, he's mental... that and he thinks that he's an actual police officer.

No, fivezeros, he doesn't think he's a "an actual police officer". If he did, the perps would have been shot dead instead of being escorted off the private property.

Nothing wrong with what this man is doing. In fact, armed individuals, defending themselves and their property is very Libertarian, and very much what this board is all about.

I'm a cop and I have not shot anyone that wouldn't leave someones property, I don't know of any cop that has EVER shot someone dead for not leaving private property.

Mostly dogs, then?

I think you missed my point, Officer. I was illustrating the restraint he shows over that of what we see on a daily basis from our "real police officers". Those scuffles often end in dead teens when so-called real cops are involved.

My second point was simply... He has a right to defend his property.. he does not need your blessing or your badge to do it. However, your original comment is exactly what I would expect from a big man in blue.

If you call just up and pulling a loaded gun on someone restraint, then why the hell do you get so pissed when an actual cop does the same thing?

He is not the property owner. He is a security guard. ("property manager") I'd imagine someone wants him to be there and thinks that he is doing a good job. I'd also imagaine that there was probably a crime problem but he takes it a little far. Watch his other videos. He assaults people who had nothing to do with who he was telling to leave, for no reason.

I do enjoy his videos. It like playing Duke Nukem or something with the multiple weapons to choose from.

Probably because of the last one he put out. He tried to fight like 20 people.

ETA: That was before I read the article.

Here's a section from the article.

"The last video I saw [the] dude went way too far. He was instigating the arguments and fights, putting his hands on people, pushing them when there was no reason for it. He tazed the one guy for no reason," user "philhouse64" wrote. "Just goes to show what a little power and fame can do to a person. He was security guard, not a cop."

I would agree with that.

Turns out the expletive spewing, customer harasser, police wannabe in Darion Long at the ATL mall has been arrested for battery and along with the arrest the mall announced that his services will no longer be needed due to "budget cuts", read: he was cutting into their profits by chasing away potential customers. I always thought he would end up joining the police force but instead the police came with force and took him out.
