Take a look at the 14 day totals chart, grey bars versus yellow. This appears worrisome.

While he is now at $8.2 million for the quarter, more than half of this came on a single day! I wonder if money bombs represent NEW money, or instead money that would have been donated at a different time. Does anyone have any information or informed views on this?

Maybe the next money bomb will eliminate any worry.

I think that the next money bomb will eliminate any worry. Everyone that I have converted to Ron Paul's side are planning donations during the Tea Party.

im planning on donating on the money bomb... which means i can't afford to donate on another day. I think a lot of people are in my shoes. I wouldn't be worried, paul will surpass the 12 million mark on that day without a question.

My guess is both. The former because of all the hype and media attention, and the latter doesn't matter anyway since we get the money regardless. I don't think there's much downside to these money bombs, since the media otherwise only reports fundraising totals at the end of the quarter, so there's no difference between a steady stream of donations and more infrequent bursts, other than excitement and the free (actually even cheaper than that) advertising. Kudos to those who came up with the concept, since I'm sure it'll be the way of the future.

Even though it says $12 million to victory, we all know that it is going to take more than $12 million. The primaries are already almost upon us and we're still in single digits! We need to get relatively quickly up to 20% nationally at a minimum for the media and voters to think we can (much less will) win.

We need to be honest about the timeline and how much money is required.

Any drop in donations that offsets the money bombs is very worrisome indeed.

More people will tend to give in a 1-2 day money bomb because of the galvanizing effort we do as well as the realization for an explosion in media coverage than would give over a certain months time. People don't part wth money easily unless they can see real tangible benefits in the short term. + new people are activated through this fun fundraising mechanism. My $.02

This is a non issue. People are clearly saving up for the money bomb instead of giving over a period of time. We didn't quite make Octobers 4 million dollar goal partly because people were waiting for November 5th and 11th.

Aren't you the same person who started the thread "Ron Paul as Vice President For Barack Obama"?

Aren't you the same person that links to his own blog rather than direct links to articles?

You trolls could do a little more to hide your motivations no?

I'm pointing out (my view) that time is short, that it will take a lot of money, and that the money bombs may not (I am not sure, asking others for their view) may not be contributing as much towards the overall final quater numbers as one might otherwise expect.

People are getting caught up on how much money is raised, but money is only a means to an end. Then comes media coverage and hopefully rise in polls. That all has to be accomplished on an accelerated timeline for Ron Paul to win.

The Grassroots section has a popular thread on transferring Ron Paul's online prowess into real world election results. This I believe is critical as well.

The donations slowed up until November 5th, it's obvious that the same is happening (on a much larger scale) for December 16.

And just 4 posts prior you state, and I quote...

"Any drop in donations that offsets the money bombs is very worrisome indeed."

Like I said, try a bit harder to hide your motivations when trolling.

Money is important (very) but it is not the end result, winning is. I think that is pretty clear and not contradictory (both are true).

Money does not guarantee winning but is indeed worrisome if it is not there. Once the money is there, then turning it into winning is the next step.

It's fine if they're dropping in my opinion. I'm sure the campaign is more than happy with where they are on a financial basis. They didn't expect to get where they are at until December, and I think they intentionally set the goals high, when they probably didn't need to. We'll make 9 million by December, and with the money bomb... it's going to be insanse. I don't think the campaign is need for extra money. I'm sure it'd be nice to have some, but they aren't desperate.

This is rather natural directly after the huge money bomb a week ago, and getting so close to thanks giving and black friday. People are getting ready and putting away a few extra dollars.

Visualize a tsunami

What's happening with donations is like a tsunami -- the water is receding, receding, receding.... on December 16, the tsunami will arrive.:D

Nice Ron Paul fundraising analogy (no victims this time!) with the tital wave with the December Tea Party money bomb. If he exceeds the total of Nov. 5 that would be huge. Do most people expect that they will break the $4.2 or $4.3 million raised from the first event in the upcoming Tea Party event?

Duh. This total will certainly be broken. While I'm not sure how much I believe in some of the estimates I've seen in other posts on this board (Ie: 10-12 million...) I am 110% certain that it will be more than on Nov. 5th

I would love for this to be the biggest single day political fundraising event of all time, imagine if we passed the hillarys, or baracks, or kerrys records for a single day.... the media would be shitting themselves

He has plenty of money right now. Last we hear he had over 2.7 million in the bank plus what he has raised this quarter. So as of about a week ago he has about 10 million. That is enough for him to run off of until the 16th. PLUS he hasnt added in the offline for the last week. We know that at least 200,000 was raised offline on the fifth.

People are saving up.

Criticism that a money bomb doesn't really represent "one-day" donations is mostly valid.

Still, the exposure we'll get from our one-day $10 million money bomb on December 16th will be greater than the exposure we'd get from drip-drip-drip donating $10 million over the next five weeks.
