Anyone know about Lonegan for Gov?

Definitely supporting him.

Thanks, If you get time, I'd love to read more on why you support him and what his downsides may be. I focus on Federal issues but am hoping to use races like this to reach out to a national GOP group...

I was just looking into his site after hearing about him on NPR. I'll send him an e-mail tonight asking for his positions on other issues. Any suggestions for questions?

perhaps ask if he is aware of the MIAC report and what he thinks of DHS and the "official" neglect of constitutionally mandated "militia of the several states" (which is necessary for the security of a free state?)

Also, you could ask if he feels drug abuse is a criminal, or medical matter, and if he feels the federal "war on drugs" is helping stem abuse, or not?

You could ask how seriously he will take his oath of office, (seeing as so many public officials consider it merely hortatory rhetoric and are breaking the law with actions contrary to said oath)?

I'm just throwing these out there, definitely should be polished...

List of questions for Steve Lonegan...

Question 1: On your website, it says “Lonegan will veto liberal spending programs, eliminate wasteful agencies and completely overhaul state government.” Which programs, specifically, and which agencies, specifically would you like to see eliminated?

Question 2: On your website, it says “And Lonegan will begin the process of reducing income taxes, repealing Corzine’s 7 percent sales tax and rolling back the dozens of other oppressive taxes like tire taxes, cell phone taxes, real estate transfer taxes and the new paid family leave income tax.” What type of reduction in income taxes can New Jersey residents expect? If the income tax is not abolished, what, specifically will those taxes be used to fund? When you say “repealing Corzine’s 7 percent sales tax”, do you mean rolling it back to 6%, or repealing it altogether? Do you wish to drastically reduce the overall property tax burden? If so, how will you accomplish this?

Question 3: Will you protect the constitutionally guaranteed right to keep and bear arms? Do you support any regulation on firearms or ammunition ownership, manufacture, or carry? Do you support the abolition of permits for the right to concealed carry? If not, can you explain why we should have to carry or pay for a permit to exercise a right that is already ours?

Question 4: Do you support the ability of people to exercise their Second Amendment rights in the form of Militia (being necessary to the security of a free state)? Have you read the Missouri Information Analysis Center’s (MIAC) report which implicates Militia members as domestic terrorists? Do you agree with the MIAC report’s analysis in this regard?

Question 5: Do you feel that drug use, and in particular, Marijuana use, is a criminal offense, or will you seek their decriminalization? Do you support the federal War on Drugs, and do you believe that the federal War on Drugs has been successful so far?

Question 6: What do you believe should be the role of the government in the institution of marriage? Do you believe that the government should have the ability to perform marriage ceremonies? Do you believe that the government should have a role in defining marriage in any regard?

Question 7: Did/Do you support the REAL ID Act? Will you categorically reject all attempts by the federal government to register citizens in such a manner?

Question 8: Several other States have resolved to reassert the 10th Amendment, and state sovereignty, with legislative action. Would you support such legislation in New Jersey? Do you support the right of the States to secede? Under which circumstances, generally, do you feel secession is a viable option?

Question 9: A recent survey performed by the Mercatus Center of George Mason University notes that “New Jersey has primary seat-belt enforcement, motorcycle and bicycle helmet laws, a cell phone driving ban, an open-container law, sobriety checkpoints, and mandatory liability and personal injury coverage for automobiles.” Which, if any, of these restrictions would you like to see repealed?

Question 10: Do you disagree with recent smoking bans on private property such as restaurants? Would you seek to end such smoking bans? Would you seek to drastically reduce taxes on cigarettes?

Question 11: What is your position on capital punishment?

Question 12: What is your position on abortion? If you are opposed to abortion, please indicate what you believe the penalty for abortion should be. If you are not opposed to abortion, please indicate whether you support funding abortion through state revenue.

Nice, I look forward to th seeing the response. Thanks

Definitely supporting Lonegan. He just destoyed the Christie campaign for ballot petition sigs, in fact his total sig count was higher than his last primary vote totals, which means his support is strong.

He's got a great record as mayor of Bogota, and the establishment seems to not like him very well which is always a plus in my book.

I'll probably be doing some canvassing for him over the next couple weeks.

Great to hear, thanks for the update

In our YAL chapter at Montclair State University we just held a forum for Lonegan. When he was asked if he would accept Obama's stimulus money he gave a flat out NO. He also paraphrased the words of Ronald Reagan stating that "libertarianism is the heart of conservatism". He wants to destroy the states progressive income tax and replace it with a 3% flat tax, and cut spending to make up the deficit. He's very pro-gun, and wants to force failing public school systems to provide vouchers for their children or cut off their funding if they dont. He has a strong record in Bogota of cutting the budget and leaving office with about the same budget he came in with, which is actually a significantly smaller budget when you take in account inflation.

And last but not least.....he wants to go back to the gold standard.

Man, they really must hate this guy.
I've been getting a few pieces of fancy smear-junkmail about him every week for the past few weeks.
