This is something that you would see in a science fiction movies about the future 20 some years ago. Michael Jackson coverage on every network and news channel with of all people Al Sharpton speaking.

It is one thing to mourn the loss and have a ceremony for the passing of an entertainer but is this kind of coverage really necessary while our country crumbles.

Even my parents are watching.
I tried to tell them is was just a divertion but they just kept watching the tv like a deer in the headlights.

It really is bizarre. You would literally think that jesus himself had just died.

It's sad that such a great entertainer died and my sympathy for his family but I agree the media coverage is outlandish. And does Al Sharpton need to be involved in EVERYTHING and make it racial?????

They just want you to be glued to the left hand waving, while the right hand goes and does something else. Clearly no coverage about DeMint in the Senate or anything else like Obama's advisor in Singapore talking about another stimulus.

I found out whats going on back stage

Will it all end when he is buried?
I bet they talk about this for at least another month.

I saw a poll that said 2/3 of Americans think this has received too much media coverage.

Someone should make a montage of the media's coverage on Jackson over the past 10 years, it would be hilarious.

The media was the same way when Elvis died. It's not a "diversion". It's good for ratings bc people are more I interested in soap opera than what affects their lives.

The best thing anyone can do is TURN IT OFF. Seriously, they are only doing this because it is a ratings game, in the same way they parroted the "child molestation" allegations a few years ago, and the "he almost dropped his baby out of a window" bullshit in France. TURN THE SHIT OFF. Don't walk away from your cable box for long periods of time without changing the channel to something like C-SPAN.

You want to stick it to the bastards, don't tune in. That single action will send them a message more powerful than any phone call, internet post, or public protest.

When the country crumbles such coverage doesn't remain a necessity but becomes an urgency.

Actually, unless you have a ratings box installed in your home no one cares what you watch.

It was much less when Elvis died. Elvis did not have a history with children. If MJ was a white entertainer the media would be celebrating his death because of the accusations. I also do not remember Elvis being covered on every channel like it is right now.

How far is this racial bias going to go in overlooking deviant behavior because of race? Makes me wonder what is going to be overlooked next. It is already shocking that a man with blood on his hands that has destroyed so many lives (Al Sharpton) is again being given this mouth piece. How is that no different from doing the same for the grand wizard of the KKK.

Reminds me of in the movie Gladiator. When Rome was crumbling, the emperor decided to have 150 days of games.

Gracchus: Fear and wonder, a powerful combination.
Falco: You really think people are going to be seduced by that?
Gracchus: I think he knows what Rome is. Rome is the mob. Conjure magic for them and they'll be distracted. Take away their freedom and still they'll roar. The beating heart of Rome is not the marble of the senate, it's the sand of the coliseum. He'll bring them death - and they will love him for it.

Truly, truly bizarre. My wife is watching the memorial, and it seems more like a big corporate event than a celebration of someone's life. A vast amount of money is changing hands over this thing, and it transforms it into the polar opposite of reverence - MJ is just an afterthought.

Not to mention that they're running out the "heal the world, save the planet, for the children" bandwagon. Nice little globalist ad dropped in to something that millions are likely watching.

I'm heading out into my garden, to get some real entertainment.
