Because his job is to act like the concerned senator. He's never going to challenge it. There's no point as it's so prevelant and repeated daily.
The difference here is that it would be incumbent on the establishment to come clean with their "evidence" which could be exposed as faulty or non-existent. They're already in the dog house over weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. I realize that there would be a lot of familiar tactics but I don't think it would hold up to scrutiny. We are also not building in the possibility that there may be an imminent tipping point where people begin to believe the accusations. And at some point it may be incumbent on someone with the clout of a Rand Paul to start making their own accusations: that the military contractors pay the congress to create enemies.
