Anti-Fracking Protests Planned; Fracking: Good or Bad?

Go turn your shower on and let it get good and hot. Your bathroom is filling with methane and steam. Turn on the exhaust fan.

Spark.

Methane leaks are extremely rare and are handled quickly by energy companies. Show me some bathroom explosions in the news.

Nice fear tactics though. You should work for the Department of Homeland Security.

FrankRep perhaps you should stop sucking the trespassing dick of utility companies who benefit from a litany of Government privileges. I don't give a shit whether methane is particularly harmful or not; you do not have the right to pollute another's property. Is coal particularly dangerous? No, not really, but you bet your ass that it is wrong for coal soot from whatever plant someone owns finds its way onto my property. If your child throws their toy on my property and never comes back to claim it, you've become a nuisance, a violator of my property rights.

The question isn't one of degree of danger, but of property rights. Clearly you have no understanding of property rights. You're (that egregious line of reasoning) one of the tools that gave rise to the Fascism of the Industrial Revolution.

I continually voted against my caucus on a Democrats trespassing bill to making the underground transgression of property a form of trespassing, but my Republican colleagues voted to allow such drills to pass beneath your property without notice or permission.

That's why we have court systems. .

Tell me about the Court System Frank.
It would be nice if there was a fair and impartial court system. But reality is far from that.
The "system" has been thoroughly corrupt for some time.

If your private water well had been contaminated by a local energy company, the court will most definitely side with you and the energy company, to avoid bad publicity, will do whatever they can to fix the problem.

That's why we have court systems. If a person or company damages your property, you can take them to court and sue for damages.

I agree that this is how it is supposed to be. But, look at corporations like Monsanto.

Frank is right that most will do this. I saw it myself with Conoco and what they cleaned up was not even created by them. They not only cleaned thing ups, Conoco bought people's houses for many times what they were worth, etc. Basically, I saw people taking Conoco for everything they could get.

Genetic modification is a strange new territory no one really knows how to deal with.

However, an energy company contaminating your private water well is pretty straight forward and you can sue them for damages.

I agree, this is what it boils down to...is fracking affecting other people's property? Whether it's harmful or not is irrelevant, if the other person has not given permission for someone to effect their property, than effecting their property is wrong.

I personally have nothing to worry about there.
And I do not oppose mining or drilling,, But it should be done without impacting others,, or just compensation made.

People are having problems.. And Big Industry gets their way.. Big money rules the Courts.(shouldn't,,but does)
These are realities.

Also, this thing where if everybody around you gives up their mineral rights and you don't, they can just take your stuff because everybody around you gave it up kinda bothered me too.

Although I have heard of fracking, this thread is the first i've looked into it. So I know nothing about it. My first thought reading every post and link up to this point, did the methane come out of the water faucet before the fracking occurred? From this post it appears the answer is no.

^^^ I listened to it twice and the only person who mentioned fracking was Hannity.

Hannity mentioned Fracking and Rand Paul talked about how wonderful the Oil and Gas industry is for the economy. Rand Paul lumped Fracking into the "Oil and Gas industry."

Rand Paul would have otherwise said, "I don't support Fracking, but the Oil and Gas industry is great for the economy."

I don't agree, Frank. Hannity mumbled off a lot of stuff, much like Alex Jones does to Ron Paul. I don't like it when Alex does it to Ron and I don't like it when Hannity did it to Rand. It's called leading.

Rand may very well agree with fracking, but I would need to hear him actually say it. And this is coming from someone who is not against fracking.

Rand Paul does, however, support the Keystone Pipeline.
