Anti-Facebook Social Network “Unthink” Launches To Public

Scrappy outsider startup Unthink.com, which bills itself as the “anti-Facebook,” is opening up its doors today, allowing in its first round of beta testers. The Tampa-based company with $2.5 million in funding from DouglasBay Capital sees itself as a more open, more honest form of social networking – one where its users are the owners of their data, and not the product being sold to advertisers.

I don't predict that will do well.... the home page is really confusing...

that's why people flock to facebook and craigslist... simplicity.

wow.. dude with 2.5m to lend was pretty ballsy thinking this (or anything else for that matter) will put a dent in Facebook's user base. he should've just bought us all a hot dog and called it a day...

I guess I'll sign up and give it a shot. Why not? Maybe it'll go somewhere...
I had issues using Firefox on a Mac...had to use Safari and wait a couple of days for them to send me an invite code. PM me if you want the code. I'd love to get away from fb, but the user interface is pretty confusing and there seems to be a few features that aren't working yet.

I thought people used Macs primarily because they're trying to be contrarian and they don't want or expect to be able to actually *do* anything with their Mac. HMM!

...not to mention that it isn't facebook. facebook's popularity is it's ubiquity... what good is yet another social network when you ask your friends "are you on unthink" and they look at you like a deer in headlights.

all graphic, video and audio folks sure are contrarian. lol

i thought people bought macs because they didn't like malware. or maybe the wanted their printer to work when they asked it to. or maybe because they had a job that requires some modicum of reliability from their hardware ;). and yes, i own a mac. for my wife, because "click start, printers and faxes, add printer... oh no wait you gotta go online to get the x64 driver for 7 you got the x86 driver for xp" is a lot more involved than "wait a second until it pops up and click print".

EDIT: before you call me a fanboy.. this was sent from my Ubuntu desktop ;). I'd throw MS and Apple in the trash if someone would port SolidWorks and TextMate to linux.
