You've got to consider the audience here: they're people who play Civilization. Civilization is a game of micro-managing. It's no wonder many don't believe the market is able to work on its own or that people wouldn't all commit suicide without the government. Their interest in the game, as well as their political beliefs, are likely influenced by the same factors.
