I was watching this new Alien vs. Predator movie the other day, and I had some comfort about 3/4 of the way through it, when a group decided to either split up and go a place a military commander told them there would be help, or go off on their own. A woman in the movie responded in the argument with:
"That's impossible! The government doesn't lie to people!"
The next few seconds consisted of most of the people in the theater laughing. It's good to know people aren't that clueless, I guess.
There was also a sort of disturbing scene near the end of the whole thing, where officers recapturing the infested city and demanding that the survivors hand over their weapons.
