America’s First Black Billionaire Calls For $14 Trillion In Reparations, he wants a cut

Anyone got a ballpark figure on the amount doled out to blacks in welfare over the years?

America’s first black billionaire proposed $14 trillion in reparations from the U.S. government, which he says is enough to close to black-white wealth gap, VICE reported.

Robert L. Johnson, the founder of Black Entertainment Television, owns several homes, leads an asset management firm and is the first black person to own a majority stake in an NBA team, but wants cash reparations himself, VICE reported. Along with the check Johnson wants an apology for racism, including slavery and Jim Crow laws, he told VICE in an interview.

He believes the new reparations are Critical Race Theory (CRT) in education, COVID-19 relief solely for black farmers, local reparations for housing in Evanston, Illinois and pledges from corporations the past year, following the death of George Floyd in May 2020.

But these reparations under a different name aren’t seen as “divisive” or “controversial,” Johnson said.

“And then people can say, ‘Well, we really don’t need reparations because when you put all of these things together, it’s reparations,” Johnson told VICE. “It’s just not one big bill or asking this country to stand up and apologize, and you’re not asking people to pay out of their paychecks.”

Johnson told Vice that the problem with the current approach to reparations is what he calls “placebo paternalism.” Reparations, “with no doubt whatsoever, [were] supposed to come from the government representing the people of the country.”

“Reparations had two components: The first was atonement, and the other was monetary,” he said. “With no doubt whatsoever, it was supposed to come from the government representing the people of the country. It was reimbursement, or recompense if you will, for the harm.”

Black members of Congress are promoting the Commission to Study and Develop Reparation Proposals for African-Americans Act, or HR 40, which would “address the fundamental injustice, cruelty, brutality, and inhumanity of slavery in the United States and the 13 American colonies between 1619 and 1865 and to establish a commission to study and consider a national apology and proposal for reparations for the institution of slavery,” according to the bill.

“Reparations would require the entire country to … admit that the result of slavery has been 200 years of systemic racism and for that reason Black folks have been denied $13-15 trillion of wealth and therefore we as a country now must atone by paying Black people of all stripes —the rich ones, the poor ones, and the middle—out of our pocket,” Johnson told VICE.

How about some reparations for the Union dead families?

Most of them didn't want to kill and be killed, they were drafted.

Being drafted to fight in a bloody war is a hell of a lot worse than picking cotton.

So-called "whites" should become extremely resentful towards this. We need to grow some balls and say enough is enough.

That means we have to start serious civil disobedience and demand secessions of states or communities.

We need to tell these people directly what we think of them. With profanity and insult. They are the ENEMY.

They are the ones who should pay the White man reparations.

If it wasn't for the white man, they would still be living like apes.

Indeed. My family was never paid for the slaves that they released against our will.

Or reparations for the Southern states in general. They never asked to be invaded by the north.

Reparations of any sort are evil and nonsensical, if they don't take place within 1-3 generations, that is living memory.

$14 trillion sounds a little light.

There are roughly 40 million non hispanic blacks in the country right now.

That comes to about $350,000 for every black man, woman and child.

I'm willing to raise that to $20 trillion.

That comes out to half a million for every man, woman and child.

There's only one string attached: if you take the money (and it can be in cash, gold, bonds, T-Bills, whatever you please) you have to leave the country and you and your posterity can never return.

Pretty good deal I think...2 million in cash for a family of four, and you get to leave this racist shithole called the United States.

I'll even throw in plane tickets.

His reparations call is not surprising. With recent social justice/woke culture gains, there have been growing number of such justice calls from various quarters (including calls for covid reparations, Iraq war reparations etc).

EM.

But highlighted part is pretty surprising coming from a backer of America-First MAGA movement that aims to drain self-interest based politics aka swamp.

Not a chance. Reparations are the left's version of "build the wall" or "drain the swamp". Just a carrot on a stick to keep the left base on the plantation following their side's slave drivers, hoping it happens.

What about those of us who can't trace back to any slave ownership OR had family that immigrated to the U.S. well after slavery ended?
Do we want to talk about welfare? How about college scholarships for young black men literally too ignorant to find their classes on their own every day (this is a real thing, BTW - some have "handlers" to make sure they show up to classes and what not) but are really good at one thing: catching a ball and running fast?

Come on, let's talk big boy.
