Alex Jones to pay $1 billion

How about the Iraq war lies from Dubya Bush and co? No penalty for that?

Also, someone on ZeroHedge wrote in the comments:
If anything Jones says is worth a billion, how much are all the douchebags who said "safe and effective" gonna have to pay?
Unfortunately those douchebags won't have a pay a single cent.

Repost from somebody..

Some worry about the broader free speech implications in the Alex Jones case, but I believe that if you don’t want to get sued for a billion dollars, you simply should not invent conspiracy theories about dead children for profit.

Whoever said that really doesn't understand the concept of free speech.

The intent is to permanently shut down the entire organization that Alex Jones had built. A continuation of the cancelling of Alex Jones.

No, I think the intent is to send a warning message to anyone in the future who may question official narratives.

I've never been a fan of Jones, but he's far from the only media source that pushed stories that weren't true. This sends the message that if your lies send thousands of kids to their deaths on foreign soil, or if they cause billions of dollars of damages in city streets, or if they trigger the biggest heist of wealth in human history, you'll be ok as long as you do it in service of the state. Go out on your own and make people feel bad, you're fucked.

On the contrary, whoever said that may understand the concept of free speech well enough, but just doesn't give a damn about it.

In fact, that seems rather likely, given how this person acknowledged the existence of concerns about the implications of this case. only to brush them aside without actually addressing them.

A lot of people are perfectly content to be deprived of liberty, so long as everyone else is stripped of it as well.

Sandy Hook truthers sued and blackballed:

Alex Jones, James Tracy, James Fetzer, Wolfgang Halbig

If Alex Jones has to pay 1 billion dollars for damages, can we have Bill Gates pay a trillion dollars for all the damage he's caused?

and its non-dischargeable in bankruptcy court.

Incorrect.

It's only non-dischargeable if they find that there was malicious intent. They would need to prove that he didn't believe what he was saying, there is no evidence of that.

I don't even know why they think he thought that no kids died. I've seen quotes from mainstream media articles strung together, but never a coherent clip where it happened. Alex Jones said he didn't promote the theory, he only covered it by having guests on. Of course he wasn't allowed to argue this in the trial, because the judge said he couldn't defend himself and she had already found him guilty because of some BS they made up about discovery.
