----------> ALERT : Wyoming's Caucuses are taking place NOW <----------

So I take it the Wyoming supporters are dropping the ball?

We're doing what we can! If you have ideas for something more that we can do - please share.

Actually - are there phone numbers for those who've donated from WY? If we could call supporters to get to the caucuses tonight and beyond- that'd be better than the emails and meetup notices we've already sent out.

You could go to FEC.gov and find names of WY donors and then look up their phone numbers, but I'm not sure if that's legal. Find out before you try it.

It's probably fine. I suppose it's public information.

Here's a link to the WY supporters on the FEC site. It only lists people that donated before the end of September, so there aren't many names. But you know they're dedicated supporters.

IF Paul's campaign "salts" his list, as is allowed by FEC rule, then you could get in trouble by doing this. I don't think that the good doctor does, and I think that since it is directly related to promoting RP's campaign that you would not be violating the spirit of any rule or law.

I was able to get the numbers for 8 of them -- gah, I hate phones. I also looked up the caucus times and dates for each of those people. Nowfor the calling. . . Any volunteers?

Ideas on what to say when calling??

From Meetup:

The national campaign office OUGHT TO BE ON THIS. They have the contact info for all the Wyoming supporters who've signed up on the website or donated. If they don't have time to call and email the Wyoming people, someone needs to get that information and make those contacts.

THIS IS WITHOUT AN EXCUSE.

Call 1-877-RON-2008

Do it now!

I called and they were surprised to hear about it! Call them! Call them! Call them! Call them! Call them! Call them! Call them! Call them! Call them! Call them! Call them! Call them! Call them!

"Hi, is __(first name only)__ there?"

"Hi, __________. You don't know me, but I am calling to inform you that Wyoming's caucus schedule has changed, with your caucus being held on _________. I obtained your name and status as a donor to candidate Ron Paul from a list made available to the public by the Federal Election Commission. I am a fellow Ron Paul supporter. Due to the caucus date change, your presence at the precinct caucuses will make a profound impact for Dr. Paul, since very few people will be available to vote for the other candidates. To help, you need to become a 'captain' for your precinct and attend the scheduled meeting. Would you consider making this effort for Ron Paul?"

1 person I talked to knew and she was busy calling regional supporters.
1 person I talked to did not know and thanked me and said he would go!
4 people I called were voicemails.

Very well scripted, kudos.

Sorry if it's been answered...when do they tally the results?

There are no results. These precinct meetings determine who goes to the convention, the convention is where the votes are. A maximum of 1200 people will be at the convention. That means each person we can get there is 1/1200 of the vote. We need all the Ron Paul supporters we can get to show up at these precinct caucuses.

I got through to one, who didn't know and thanked me. Got a fax machine for one, and a business number (I'll call again during business hours) for the last.

Assuming half didn't know, that means we might have brought out 4 or 5 more people just from calling the Q3 donors. :)

Thanks so much for the info! :)

Quote Bump....glad many are working on this.

!!! I just got back. Every Ron Paul supporter in WY NEEDS to go to these!!

What we did is divide up by precinct, and some precincts didn't have anyone at all show up. There were 3 of us in mine - the 2 precinct committee people and me.

PCs are automatic delegates to the county convention on Jan. 5th - but I'm now an alternate in case either of them can't make it, and if there were vacancies in any precinct, they were filled tonight by those people who showed up. In addition, there was a list to write down names of people to be considered for the Statewide convention, and anyone can be on that list, doesn't matter their precinct, and from that list they'll choose delegates. I'm on that list now.

We also went over the state gop platform, and resolutions making any changes we wanted which is a prime opportunity to have your voice directly heard!! We just sat at our precinct tables and read through all the listed resolutions and platform stances and crossed things out, added things, etc.

As we were wrapping up, a newspaper guy stopped by our table and asked a few questions as to who we were supporting and so on. The PCs from my precinct are for Romney, and when I said I was for Ron Paul the lady said, "Oh ARE you now? We have gotten SO much literature from him!!" So, someone's doing their job getting info to the PCs!! Unfortunately, it didn't have enough effect on my precinct's PCs, but hey there's always the chance I'll get to go in place of one of them as the alternate. Also, I gave my PCs my name and phone number, and they'll call me if they need any help with poll-watching, etc.

Definitely, definitely, every WY supporter needs to go to their caucus! Three counties are done now, but there's still another 20 where we can make a difference in a lot of ways!
