Alaska State Convention - Any News?

Wow. Sounds like the conservatives across the board, got fed up and revolted over all the establishment GOP manipulation. This should make some entertaining headlines tomorrow.

this is what we need to have happen in the upcoming primaries.

But you are assuming they will print it. I hope they do.

The potential AK results (or the lack of) have been bugging me all day today, much more than LA or MA. So we kicked out Romney's lapdog Randy Ruedrich, and seated our guy as the GOP chairman and we also got the VC seat. But they shut down the state convention? Any news after that?

Didn't that other post with the picture say Santorum had 8, Paul 6, Gingrich 2? 8+6+2 = 16/24 and it also said Romney had 8. So is that the count?

Yep, but that was going to be the count all along because it was a binding caucus. So technically we didn't make any gains as far as delegates go, but getting the chair and vice-chair is huge.

are you from Alaska? I mean are you surmising or do you know?

But maybe our guys used our clout for the chair. Or maybe a bunch of Gingrich and Santorum slots are filled with RP supporters, I don't know.

Waiting for details....

because if a PAUL guy is chair, and a PAUL guy is vice, it sure sounds like we were represented in the votes....

No, I'm just looking at the bound delegate count for the 1st ballot. 8 go to Romney, 8 for Santorum, 6 for Paul, and 2 for Gingrich.

OK, I had surmised the same but technically all our guys in Mass are 'Romney delegates' but they will be ours on procedural votes and second ballot....

Screw the bound delegate count. ALL I wanna know is how many Paulbots are in that 24 delegates, including the 6 official for Paul.

I can't confirm this, but I believe they just selected delegates based on how many each was "supposed" to get. I'm really not sure, all the news coming out of Alaska right now is about the new chairman.

Along that line, what about the state Committeeman and Committeewoman, also superdelegates - were they up for election at this convention? That would be two more superdelegates in addition to the State Chair.

By Alaska rule The three automatic delegates from the Last Frontier are free agents as most of the automatic delegates are nationwide. And while they can choose whomever they please, it should be noted that a state party chairperson, the national committeeman and the national committeewoman will all be elected at the April 26-28 state convention.

To me this sounds like the Paul campaign will get the 3 delegates left over.

This means Ron Paul wins Alaska outright:D

Any news on the national committeeman and committeewoman?

Because if we could get our people to those positions, that would give Ron Paul 6 bound + 3 = 9 delegates to the national convention. A plurality in Alaska.

Sorry everyone but the old State chair retains his position until january and will be going to the national convention along with the other old guard members. this was a rule that was already in place that we did not get a chance to change due to the party bosses ahutting down the co vention early. we did win the plualirty of delegates to national however. we got some of santorums delegate spots.

The state chair may "go" but perhaps the delegation will elect someone else as its lead to announce votes in Tampa. Replacing the RNC "handlers" of these delegations is also a win.

How did the convention get shut down early? Nice work on the plurality though.
