I'm rooting for Clovis. Smartest guy, most qualified and most conservative. Not a libertarian but I think he would do some good in the Senate.

If nobody gets 35%, it goes to convention.

If it goes to convention then Clovis wins hands down. The party activists love him.

Wow, McDaniel absolutely killed Cochran in Jones county and is back ahead. He's still under 50% though, and the counties that are left look like strong counties for Cochran. But it certainly looks to me like this race will end up going to a run off. We'll see.

AL-06 looks like DeMarco and Palmer will make the runoff followed by Beason, Brooke, Mathis.

Chris McDaniel (MS-Sen) is leading with a majority and Steve Palazzo (MS-04) is hovering around 50%. Rod Blum (IA-01) is leading with a majority and Brad Zaun (IA-03) is in the lead with less than 35%. Corey Stapleton (MT-AL) is barely leading.

Is Stapelton any good?

If IA-3 goes to convention, 35% needed to avoid, then I don't know if Zaun will win. The liberty wing should solidly get behind him with his support in Polk county. I don't know if it would be enough though.

Alabama: DeMarco and Palmer headed to runoff. California: Kashkari leads Donnelly, Ose leads Birman. Iowa: Ernst and Blum win, Zaun leads with less than 35%. Mississippi: McDaniel leads Cochran with less than a majority. Palazzo leads Taylor with a majority. Montana: Stapleton barely leads Zinke. New Jersey: Bell wins. New Mexico: Weh defeats Clements. South Dakota: Rounds wins.

We've had at least a couple liberty guys make it through state house primaries. I'll be updating in the next few days. If these guys win in November then they will be some of the first local officials to endorse Rand in 2016.

It looks like McDaniel will become the nominee in three weeks. Many Cochran supporters will not continue to pour energy and cash into an effort to rescue a six-term incumbent who failed to win a majority of the vote in a primary.

"If Republican groups continue to bombard McDaniel — their TV ads have called him a flip-flopping trial lawyer and blasted him for waffling on his views about hurricane aid for Mississippi — that might ultimately do no more than damage the eventual Republican nominee.

Asked if it made sense to attack McDaniel over the next three weeks, as the NRSC did during the primary, Kansas Sen. Jerry Moran, who chairs the National Republican Senatorial Committee, said “It does not to me." Ohio Sen. Rob Portman, the NRSC’s vice chairman, said in an interview that it wouldn’t make sense to go negative against McDaniel.

“Should he choose to persist, the Club for Growth PAC and conservatives throughout Mississippi will vigorously pursue this race to its conclusion, and we will look forward to the election of Senator Chris McDaniel,” Club President Chris Chocola said.
