Do you believe in evolution?
The racist questions are child's play. When Paul answers this question it is going to hurt us. I am sorry but it's true.

Garbage. If Ron Paul gives the answer he gave in the video that just got posted here, he'll pick up votes on both sides of the argument.

i don't think so. ron paul will state his believe, but say its not the federal government's job to mandate schools teach creationism.

Sometimes I wonder if youre a troll Perry.. if not youre just too much of a worrywort.. relax.

Probably something about "starving children" if we don't support the welfare state and redistribution of wealth in general.

The reason you think I might be a troll is because I speak honestly.
The truth hurts.
Relax? In case you hadn't noticed our nation is on the line. There is no time to relax.

Eh, I know people who have given up on Ron Paul because of his answer to evolution. Sad, but true. The thing is, the man can't help it. If you're raised under certain dogma, just like the vast, vast majority of 70-year-old Texans, there's not much one can do; then it is an environmental issue (that is, one being a product of one's environment), and not an issue of intelligence or anything such.

I don't think its a troll post but just an expression of worry.

Don't worry Perry. None of Ron Paul's positions have any tinge of racism. An evolution question is probably more to clarify a position that has caused contention between the religous and scientific communities.

Don't sweat it folks.

Ron's personal beliefs don't matter as president. He doesn't like abortions or drugs, yet he'd leave abortion up to the states, and end the war on drugs. As Huckabee said in one of those debates, he's not running to "write the curriculum for an eighth-grade science class". So you worried about a question that wouldn't be worse than any other doesn't help.

It matters to many atheist democrats who will hear him for the first time and write him off from that point on. And yes I am concerned about where the democratic vote is going.

as if that is our biggest issue? that worries me. the same ridiculous, disconnected issues always come up when an election rolls around, and we elect people that accomplish nothing other than to make matters worse.

Ron Paul is the only man willing to address the very real problems this country faces.

That was my thought's indeed. I think the good Dr. is just way more intelligent than the average person is used to.

So when he says, that's a philosophical question, it's just so deep that most people say, yeah, he doesn't believe in it.

It's irrelevant and it's absurd to even be asked of a Presidential candidate. The fact that this is the question you're most worried about makes me think that tomorrow should be a fantastic interview! Ron Paul also speaks honestly and the truth hurts. If it costs him some votes, it costs him some votes. He's not going to change his view to please a few democrats. He is running for the nomination of the Republican Party. Go Ron Paul!

Question: Do you believe in evolution?

Possible Answers

Dodge
-My background was in medicine not evolutionary biology.
-Do you ask scientists whether they believe in Austrian Economics?

Semi-Dodge
-I think it oversimplifies the issue to think of evolution as a yes or no question.

Neutral Answer
-Certainly we can accept that species change over time, how these changes occur I can't answer because I studied medicine not evolution. Although I happen to believe we were created in gods image.

Counter Attack
-Are you referring to natural selection, genetic drift, Gene flow, or the origin of life? It's a complex topic that many scientists have dedicated their lives to and I don't think it's an appropriate question for a presidential candidate.

The problem is that creationism has gotten itself a very bad name because of the people who push it, and the other things they push. This tends to get rubbed onto people who believe creationism.

I am not religious and personally I have nothing against creationists, but this is probably why it turns many non-religious people off.

Well it can't be worse than asking the other candidates whether or not they raised taxes, whether or not they were pro choice, pro life, pro gay marriage, the opposite of pro gay marriage, who's dad marched with which martyred civil rights leader, whose son violently beat a dog to death like michael vick and then had to cover up an investigation by the state police when governor, whether or not someone used city funds to give police security to an illicit mistress, and whether or not a candidate was pro border security or pro landscaping.
