I think Benton needs to keep his mouth shut on things like this, sometimes he talks a bit too much to the media, especially when it comes to strategy. Quit giving the media ammo to say that RP isn't really trying to win the nomination, just influence the Republican platform.

Right, but you would be in the minority when it comes to Paul supporters. As I can't see many throwing their votes away on a 3rd party candidate when Paul's name is on the ballot, but maybe I'm wrong.

I agree! My thoughts were more of a general campaign strategy for any candidate. Your strategy should be to win or win the silver and what comes with it, imo. Being VP would be better than simply changing some language in some platform that nobody reads or follows.

I think this is all part of a pretty good strategy albeit unorthodox. A) it serves to downplay expectations for Dr. Paul. B) if such negotiations were to occur the Paul camp knows the Republicans would not stick to it. It's a total set up to further highlight and hopefully wake up a few people when those promises are broken. I think they are doing their best to keep the liberty movement alive and well even if Dr. Paul does not win.
