I'd still pin it on communication/coordination. If a tweet is deleted voluntarily without it causing reaction then that should be emphasized (i.e. not much of an explanation is necessary and Paul spokesman Gary Howard was wrong to make a bigger deal out of it by communicating about the twitter account allegedly being hacked... etc etc (sounds defensive and that is not needed now)
It was a joke, perhaps uncharacteristic of Paul and therefore unnecessary and therefore voluntarily deleted, that's it! Instead, use the opportunity to ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK and be on the OFFENSIVE about the Fed or whatever. That will shut up any reporter.
