A plea to my fellow lovers of liberty

I am asking all of you to continue working with us in the GOP. We should work in all available avenues to further the cause of liberty, but we should absolutely not abandon our work in the GOP.

Yes, we were royally betrayed in every sense of the word at every stage of the election cycle, particularly today. It is easy to want to abandon the party, to want nothing to do with them. I, too, feel disgust and anger. But I would like to remind you all how much work we accomplished in two short years. This strategy really only took off in 2010, and it was so effective the establishment had to lie and cheat at every step to stop us.

I would also like you all to envision what 5 or 10 more years of this dedicated hard work could bring. We already make up a large portion of the party. What would it look like if we kept this up? What if we used the foothold we already have to elect our guys to all levels of the party? We can only grow exponentially from here. Our influence will grow exponentially as well.

Please, if you're thinking of leaving now, remember what Ron put up to help get us here. We've got more steam now than ever!

Just remember, they struggled incredibly hard to stop us today. We have the party establishment against the wall. They will not be able to stop us next time! Do not give up. The party is in our grasp. Keep up the good fight!

Agreed. +rep.

I just joined the republican party late last year. I did it because I was inspired by the work some of you have done and the results accomplished. If we can continue to inspire people, the old GOP faithfuls will get smaller and smaller.

Simple demographics lets you know the GOP as we know it will fade away. They will be screaming for a way out in a year or two. We want to be the ones they turn to for their redemption. And liberty will ensue.

FUCK THE GOP !
I will Vote My Conscious and teach my children to do the SAME and that you don't HAVE TOO CHOICE FROM THE 2 PARTY System!

The Revolution will Really Start When the problems REALLY hit the doorsteps of the majority of AMERICANS
Then Liberty WILL RISE UP!

If you vote for the lesser of 2 evils instead of principle you give them the 2 Party System of POWER!

They sawed off one leg of Reagan's famous and successful 'three legged stool' today. And did serious damage to a second leg. Partly as a result of that, and partly on his own lack of merits, Rmoney is going to get his spoiled as spanked hard in November. And that's going to make the rank and file think. It really will.

They didn't just go to the wall. How long had those rules they either superceded or ignored today been in effect? Fifty years? More?

Yes, we can do this. Maybe within four years, maybe. But it's going to require cleaning a lot of crap out of the higher echelons of that organization.

I do think this could be important. I think we could conceivably take over the Democratic Party, and that might be easier. But I think there's one thing more important even than this: We need to create our own media news outlet. Badly.

I never said vote for Romney. I will never. But don't give up on cleaning the gunk out of OUR party. It will not be difficult to get our guys at all levels of the party, and once we do, that rule change that went through is a voice vote away from being changed again!!

meh,...not me.

The Liberty movement needs to find a new venue to avoid any confusion between us and the despots who control the Republican party.

I discussed this with a friend in my town. We were both considering running for a mayoral office; him as a democrat, me as a republican. But we are both liberty minded.

I'm trying to relocate in the near future, but it's still a good idea.

The more avenues we allow liberty to flow through, the better. You are doing a disservice to the liberty movement by refusing to support a liberty candidate in the GOP. Just saying....

Political parties are not fraternities or churches -- You do not pledge your life to them.
Political parties have the sole purpose of leveraging your power in Government.
NOTHING FURTHER.

As a result, I have no interest in working with a party filled with crooks and liars. Under that rational, I might as well go fall in line and get a job with TSA.

NOPE!

I have just changed my party affiliation via my Secretary of State website.

I challenge everyone here to do the same.

Don't listen to the trolls who want to steal your votes and then have you vote for their guy.

Romney is no different than Obama. They are one in the same.

CHANGE YOUR PARTY AFFILIATION

I DISAGREE completely. Instead of trying to transform people in the GOP to love liberty, have them LEAVE the party and love liberty elsewhere. Away from the filthy establishment scumbags that we had to witness at the RNC today.

Good post R&Rsouls, but I am just not convinced we are going to continue to make positive change. Right now, I am resigned to just plan that there is zero chance any POTUS candidate is going to solve our long-term fiscal crisis, or sincerely address it. As such, is it worth my time, money and effort to work with a party which the vast majority of members have no grasp of the seriousness of our issues?

Again, I like the post. I am just not sure on an individual basis whether it is worth it anymore.

Foolish and disrespectful to everyone that's put in the effort to get us this far. We've got the party against the wall and you're willing to let them walk away. Sad.

Rand is my Senator.

I was very enthusiastic about his victory.

He's on the stump for Romney at the convention.

,...nuff said,..

The GOP isn't the solution.

It's the bulk of the problem.

And that is yet another problem.

Yes, shoving a third party into prominence is damned difficult. No doubt about it. But it does have one advantage--the LP, for example, despite being the size and age it has achieved it still has far, far less baggage in the minds of the voters than either of the major parties.

They've been using the parties to divide and conquer for so long that there is, in fact, a lot to be said for letting the GOP die and replacing it (just the way it once replaced the Whig Party).

4 years ago, were you able to walk into your GOP and see what we've been seeing recently? We've got between 4 and 10 new liberty lovers in congress now. We've got a young carrier of the torch in Ashley Ryan. We're taking over the party at all levels, and you want to give that up now?

Are some of you even thinking right now? 4 years ago, our ideas were so foreign the establishment wouldn't even PANDER to consider putting it in the platform!

Yes. And once those candidates are in office, they can throw their support behind new candidates we support. When was the last time we could say we had ,right now, SEVEN strong defenders of liberty in congress!

We have quite a few good candidates still running for office. We have to show up to vote for them.
