A plea to my fellow lovers of liberty

I'm with you OP! It's INCREDIBLE to see what a handful of people have been able to do in a few short years. Leaving only ensures the corruption continues and they get what they want.

Then you should feel pretty damned ashamed for abandoning the great candidates we have running in the party right now. You have every opportunity to put liberty minded individuals in office, and instead, you have the immaturity to say "fuck it."

In my opinion, that's just as damaging to the cause of liberty as the GOP trying to FORCE us out. Only difference is, you're not even making them sweat. You're doing their work for them. If Ron gave up every time the party shunned him, he wouldn't have even been a force today.

You guys need to stop with the short sighted views right now and look beyond your hurt feelings right now. There is no doubt the party is FULL of scum right now, but we are effectively forcing them out and getting our guys IN.

this. +rep

We didn't even have a STRATEGY in 2010. We hardly had anyone running. It's only taken off from there. Look at who we got in office in 2010 versus who we've gotten in recently. We are GROWING. They are AFRAID. They've made it KNOWN they are afraid! We can take our party back!

Ron persevered for 30 years. We can do it, too, if we love liberty as much!

Ron Paul is a Libertarian who used the GOP as a vehicle to get his message out.

The message is out,..the books have been written,...the GOP has served its purpose and is now an enormous detriment to the cause of liberty.

Political parties don't matter.

Ideology matters.

The ideology of the liberty movement deserves a *much* better home than the reeking, spent carcass of the Republican party.

If Ron was a quitter like you are, where would the notion of liberty be today? Who would be stopping the corruption? Who would be saving our nation?

And I can GUARANTEE you Ron will CONTINUE to be a force even OUT of office. I'll be fighting with Ron. If you don't want to, go ahead, but know you're doing a major disservice to liberty.

The establishment doesn't even have to fight you when you just let them have it. Remember that.

AGREED 100% !!!

Good luck with that..

Keep beating your head against the wall

it'll feel so good when you stop.

Political parties are not fraternities or churches -- You do not pledge your life to them.
Political parties have the sole purpose of leveraging your power in Government.
NOTHING FURTHER.

As a result, I have no interest in working with a party filled with crooks and liars. Under that rational, I might as well go fall in line and get a job with TSA.

NOPE!

I have just changed my party affiliation via my Secretary of State website.

I challenge everyone here to do the same.

Don't listen to the trolls who want to steal your votes and then have you vote for their guy.

Romney is no different than Obama. They are one in the same.

We need a NEW Party !

For True Liberty and Freedom minded people !

Liberty Party Sounds Good To Me!!! or Even The Revolution Party
Maybe Patriot Party?

Yes me must stay engaged with the GOP... Bite down even harder. grab and hog tie them even harder.

I don't see anyone on this forum "quitting"

I see many who are looking for a more wholesome place to spend their political energies than the GOP.

Meh, he is a force today in spite of the party, certainly not because of it.

But, I'm not going to bash anybody that wants to continue in this effort.

Not for me, but, then again, it never was, so it's not like I'll be missed.

I seem to recall a number of you saying that in 2008. If we quit in 08, we wouldn't have everyone we have in Congress today. We wouldn't have Ashley Ryan or Brent Tweed or AJ Spiker. We wouldn't be a force in Nevada.

You guys said the same thing in 08. Everytime you say "give up," we persist and get STRONGER.

IGNORE THE DEFEATISTS IN THIS THREAD. WE KEEP BREEDING SUCCESS. DONT GIVE UP. LOVE LIBERTY MORE THAN THEY DO!

Good luck with that..

Six years ago, I'd have disagreed. I'd've said, but the media ignores the other parties, so we need to go through the GOP. Since then, they've proven to me beyond a shadow of a doubt that as long as they can get away with ignoring major party candidates they don't like, they will.

Ask not which party is our most promising vehicle. If we don't work as hard taking over some media outlet as we've worked on taking over the party, we will just continue to get stuck in the mud.

Yes! We should be enraged at how we were treated today. But we shouldn't hang our heads and leave! Fight harder!

Again, a number of people left after the 08 cycle saying the same thing. "We'd never make progress in the GOP. It was a lost cause." Look at how many liberty candidates we have at all levels of government under the GOP today! Those people are kicking themselves now!

Yes me must stay engaged with the GOP... Bite down even harder. grab and hog tie them even harder.

As I stated in my original post, we should be injecting liberty into all available outlets. The GOP, third parties, media outlets, and at all local, county, state, and national levels!

To give up at any level, in any avenue, is giving up on LIBERTY. THAT is a fact. If you refuse to fight for liberty at any level, you are LETTING tyranny win at that level!

I am asking all of you to continue working with us in the GOP. We should work in all available avenues to further the cause of liberty, but we should absolutely not abandon our work in the GOP.

Yes, we were royally betrayed in every sense of the word at every stage of the election cycle, particularly today. It is easy to want to abandon the party, to want nothing to do with them. I, too, feel disgust and anger. But I would like to remind you all how much work we accomplished in two short years. This strategy really only took off in 2010, and it was so effective the establishment had to lie and cheat at every step to stop us.

I would also like you all to envision what 5 or 10 more years of this dedicated hard work could bring. We already make up a large portion of the party. What would it look like if we kept this up? What if we used the foothold we already have to elect our guys to all levels of the party? We can only grow exponentially from here. Our influence will grow exponentially as well.

Please, if you're thinking of leaving now, remember what Ron put up to help get us here. We've got more steam now than ever!

Just remember, they struggled incredibly hard to stop us today. We have the party establishment against the wall. They will not be able to stop us next time! Do not give up. The party is in our grasp. Keep up the good fight!
Seconded!

Ron Paul has fought the fight for 30+ years and he never quit.

Not a chance. I have never and will never be a member of the GOP. Ron Paul's campaigns have been great for education, but trying to take over that party is a complete waste of time and money. We need to focus our energy on something that could actually change things.

Agreed.

That doesn't necessarily mean I will never vote for anyone with an (R) next to their name for any office ever again. I may (I don't have to be a registered Republican to vote in Republican primaries in my state). I have absolutely no interest in continuing to affiliate myself with the party, though. The prospect of depriving them of one single tally mark in their registration count is very satisfying to me, in fact.
