A Joint Town Hall with Rand Paul and Bernie Sanders?

Sanders is the Dem underdog. By debating him and him alone Rand is SCREAMING! Hay I'm the Repug underdog and don't have a chance either.

FUCKING IDIOTIC MOVE!

Ummmmmmm... I don't think you correctly understand the situation. Or you're being violently sarcastic. I can't tell which

Oh, I think it would be very educational and interesting. I'd certainly watch it. Most of the country would not and the MSM would use just that fact that it was going down to paint Rand into a corner and drop his numbers.

What do you think the situation is?

I get that they are both the candidates with different ideas. The non-mainstream ones. Maybe 3 million Americans tune in. And 40 million get to hear Frank Lunz tell them what a farce it was and that Rand is not a REAL contender because he stooped to the desperation of debating the looser den candidate. Got it.

Bernie is enjoying a much broader base of support than Rand is presently. I hardly think that this would be "punching down" for Rand.

(Meme is Bad Luck Brian for anyone curious)

Anyone who likes Bernie remind them he wants to defund NASA to fund welfare. He has consistently voted to slash NASA funding since 1996.

Just don't bring up Rands total lack of enthusiasm for public R&D

Well, as hard as the RNC and their corporate lapdogs are working to find an excuse to exclude Rand Paul from their debate, it is increasingly looking like there's nothing to be lost, and everything to be gained by going forward with this.

If they kick him off the main debate stage, we just need to kick off the moneybomb for charity and run with this thing. Hey, Bernie! You won't debate? Why do you hate the poor?

There's no such thing as bad publicity.

Really? That's not what Subway thought about Jared!

Just sayin... :)

Agreed. Should we start a petition NOT to do this and see which hits 10k first?

I see it moreso as Bernie is the socialist, Rand is the libertarian, everyone else is just establishment status quo with a different outlook on gay marriage and abortion.

Sanders definitely does have a chance. Yes, he's the Dem underdog. But he's a very serious and extremely popular underdog. Putting Rand at the same level in the GOP that Sanders is at in the Democrat party is a big step up for Rand, not down. It would also help brand Rand as the real anti-establishment Republican in contrast to Trump.

Agreed. Sanders is getting closer and closer in the polls. It was only a few months ago when he was polling single digits and now it's almost tied.

I can imagine the water cooler talk. "Did you hear about that republican debating the socialist running for president?"

Ugh idk... I'd hate to see Rand try to toe the line between establishment GOP and libertarianism in the middle of the campaign and end up doing poorly against Sanders... I think Ron is the man for the job. Although Sanders probably wouldn't agree to debate someone who's not currently running for office.

If he can't handle himself going to toe to toe with a socialist he doesn't deserve to be president. This will likley be an internet aired deal. It has seemed to me that the younger and more tech friendly folks have been on the Rand and Berrie bandwagons.

Now that Bernie is becoming the front runner on the Democratic side, he really has nothing to gain from debating a Republican polling in the low single digits.

I'm sure this would score a lot of website hits for Ben Watts, I'm unsure who else would benefit from it

He said that if we can make it happen without getting him kicked out of debates, he'll be there.

And if he's not in any debates to get kicked out of, that's one less hurdle to jump. So if they want to kick him out of the debates, fuck 'em. We either expose Sanders as someone who doesn't care abut the poor beneficiaries of the charitable contributions we try to make, or we expose Sanders and all other socialists as tyrants and idiots, or both.

Hear that, powers that be? Keep Rand in the debates or we'll find something for him to do that you'll like even less.

I don't see what Paul has to gain. Rand is too politically correct to destroy every appeal to emotion and would play various games that Ron wouldn't.

He would still have reason and logic on his side, but I don't think most Sanders supporters care much for the finer points of policy discussion.

Humans don't care about logic or reason. This is how socialism gets popular, because it sounds wonderful if you ignore the realities of human nature. Every time a socialist or statist calls me a utopian because I'm a libertarian it annoys me to no end. I'm not the one ignoring the realities of human nature to pretend that greed and self-interest don't exist or that people in power won't do whatever it takes to maintain that power.
