Ron Paul will do what we all want. The troops will come home, the wars of aggression will stop, the war on drugs will finally stop hurting society and we will have a smaller military presence around the planet, freeing up tons of resources for us to better our lives here at home.

Some say Ron Paul is too radical socially. He will not attempt to roll back history. He is not against gay rights or women's rights, in fact being a libertarian means you stand for personal liberty.

A lot will say they are afraid he will ruin the public school system and other social programs we have. If you haven't noticed, our kids are as dumb as rocks and our social programs are failing due to military spending. So why is it a bad idea to try something new? We know that what we are doing now, and have done in the past has not been successful, so the common sense thing to do is to try something new............If people who Identify as conservative would stop for a bit, turn down Fox news and listen to Dennis Kucinich, they would see that they also share many values and goals.

YumYum, you do realize that every thread title in Grassroots Central is being tweeted.

I'm sure conservative Republicans are going to love hearing that Ron Paul supporters want a socialist as RP's VP.

The first rule of the grassroots must be to DO NO HARM to Ron Paul's campaign.

I disagree. Most, if not all Ron Paul supporters would stay with Paul no matter what VP he picks. We'd get nearly all the Independents, and we'd get a ton of Democrats. And we'd still win a decent amount of Republicans. I think Kucinich would be a wise choice.

I used to think like that but I realized its not about unity, it is about picking a form of government and sticking to it. Paul and Kucinich have different ideas on the role of government and they contradict in some pretty important areas.

Has anyone forgotten that right now we are trying to win the Republican nomination?

I don't know that I could vote for Ron if he selected Kucinich to be his VP. It would show a serious lack of judgement.

The case against a Paul/Kucinich ticket: As soon as it was announced at the Republican National Convention, Kucinich would be hanged on the spot.

They damn near did it to Liebermann four years ago for merely having the temerity to appear on the stage.

The long and the short of it is that the principled liberal view that federal level socialism will work if only we get the right people in charge of it is a recipe for totalitarianism to return not in the LONG term but in the SHORT term.

I have respect for Kucinich, because he seems honest as far as I can tell. But with that said...

No chance myself and most other libertarians would ever support a ticket with a socialist on it.

DK doesn't even really deserve to be in the same sentence as RP.

Why would you want a big gov socialist anywhere near RP?

acptulsa is correct. angry Democrats would never forgive
poor dennis even if the gop totally united in the fall of 2012!

Some of you guys need to chill. I only posted it because the author likes both Ron Paul and Kucinich. I'm not endorsing Kucinich; he lost me when he supported Obamacare without public option. But this article does show that there are a lot of independents and Democrats out there who would support Ron Paul. Don't forget these people just because Ron is trying to win the Republican nomination, because if he does win the primary, we will need every independent and Democrat vote we can get.

I hate to say it, but if there is an opportunity to get some Kucinich supporters that dont already support Ron Paul also, to open up to the whole Ron Paul Thunder, and the way into their minds is news stories like this. Martial Arts teaches to take disadvantages and find ways to make them advantages.
