I'm buying a WASR 10 AK Monday and it seems the ammo is hard to find. Can anybody help me out and tell me what the better brand is and where on the web I can find it? Sorry guys, I'm a novice. Any help is greatly appreciated...

GOOD LUCK!!!...

Check ammoman.com, Ammunitiontogo.com, and aimsurplus.com, are a few that I check on a regular basis.

When it comes to AK ammo.. STAY AWAY FROM SOFT POINT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

otherwise.. any will do. If you're going after Military Surplus ammo.. be aware that it's corrosive, and you'll need to wash out the gun with water or windex right after your outing with it. Then do a thorough cleaning, gas tube and all when you get home.

I mostly use Wolf. Sometimes Hot Shot. Otherwise Brown Bear, or Silver Bear! Good luck finding much at reasonable prices these days though! www.aimsurplus.com is sometimes a good source!

I couldn't find any online last week, but I did backorder some from Cabella's online. About $260 for 1,000 rounds with two complimentary dry boxes. They say they'll receive some on the 14'th. We'll see.

yeah if you can find any kind of 7.62x39 get it before its gone... aks will eat anything and everything. (or at least Ive never had a prob with my romy or yugo ak using any and all brands/type of ammo under the sun)

The AK 47 doesn't care about brand name ammo, just as long as you keep on feeding it. I suggest using FMJ especially in a WASR10. They seem to hate SP and my WASR10 doesn't care for JHPs either.

Also, keep an eye out for Corrosive and non Corrosive ammo. It's all right to shoot corrosive ammo but you HAVE to clean the gun after shooting it. I'm to lazy my self and try to stick with non corrosive ammo.

Examples of imported Non corrosive brands: Monarch (Academy brand), Hotshot, Wolf, and Golden Tiger.

yeah, as a general rule most commercial stuff (foreign and domestic) will be non corrosive and usually the military surplus is corrosive.

I'm pretty lazy about cleaning when using non corrosive. Though after about 800 or so rounds through my wasr10 I got to feeling pretty guilty for not cleaning or oiling it so I finally did. :D

I just looked and www.clasicarms.com has some wolf ammo for sale $199.95 for 1000 rounds. I would also go to academy and use the monarch ammo which I found to shoot better than wolf. The monarch ammo is still russian made but I think it has more compression which allowed my SKS to cycle while my friend used wolf and it wouldn't.

That's for 5.45x39. They... like everybody else... are out of the 7.62:(

Hey guys,

I have a bunch of 7.62x39 wolf 122gr FMJ and 124gr HP being shipped soon. Let me know if you are interested by PM'ing me.

I know this is my first post, but I have been following these forums for the past 6 months or so. If you PM me, I will give you my ebay id so you can see that I am not a scam.

Also, to the person who posted classic arms. I checked the site last night, and they had 6 SKS's that weren't recycling for $135. That is a common problem with the Yugos and could have been fixed for under $10. I got my FFL licensed friend to call them this morning and they were gone. Oh well.
