5 Best Countries to Move to Before Collapse of the West

Skouson ultimately recommends northern and western Idaho, though he lives in a similar place in northern Utah(he is a Mormon). Idaho also has a large concentration of Mormons at 23%, while Christians make up the rest.

It is also 89% non-Hispanic white. The positive of that is not a racist aspect but rather the likelihood of race wars (white v black v hispanic) are near to zero. There was once a racist group in Idaho but they were thrown out 10 years ago so the place is clean. Case in point, their popular Rep. is Raul Labrador, so obviously racism is not a factor.

I really like the geography, and it rates very highly on all of the state freedom indexes in terms of personal and economic liberty.

Actually, NH is the most important state in the US when it comes to presidential elections. It's the best place in the US, outside of DC, to meet famous politicians. Utah has a major city. Well Salt Lake City isn't Boston level, but it still isn't peanuts. I'm not sure what your post is about or where you were coming from :(
Um.. this thread isn't about where to be to influence presidential elections (as if I'd move anywhere to infinitesimally affect the outcome of one primary every four years). Instead, this thread is about where one would move in the event of the collapse of the West. Granted, Canada is still in the West, but its economy stands a slightly better chance of survival than does the US so it may suffer less government clamp down after the fall. And New Zealand is a relatively free country both socially and economically with an attractive citizenry that share a common language and with a geography that is largely removed from the warfare that may result in the event of the collapse of the West. That's where my post is coming from: I'm staying on the topic of the thread unlike the numskulls talking about presidential elections.

PS. I wasn't saying I need to be part of a city to meet politicians. I want to be part of a diverse environment where movers and shakers of all industries mix and mingle. That isn't New Hampshire. Shaking hands with a politician does not make someone part of the circle of movers and shakers, it makes him/her a hurdle that politicians must step over. Thanks but no thanks.

I will stay here. No point in leaving my home. Besides what happens here will happen everywhere eventually. No point in running.
Agreed. The US Empire's tentacles stretch around the globe. The only countries that are relatively safe from America's desire for world domination are those with nuclear weapons, and none of those are any more free than America.

My plan is to stay, continue to express my opinions, and prepare for whatever may come. There's a possibility that the US will collapse in the next decade or two, perhaps for economic and/or political reasons. If the country breaks up, then I hope freedom-minded individuals are prepared to seize the opportunity and grab a piece of the pie. The more rugged and heavily-forested the terrain, the better.

Joel recommends the Lakes Region and north of it. In southwestern NH he is worried about the nuclear power plant on the VT/MA/NH border. He thinks it might be a target in WWIII if that happened. He is worried about southeastern NH because of the larger population in the Boston MSA. Also, there is a nuclear plant in Seabrook on the NH/MA/Atlantic Ocean border. It likely wouldn't be a major issue since it is on the Ocean but there is a chance that if it was blown up in WWIII that the wind might blow over some of the towns in NH or the NH/ME coast. While there aren't any large military bases in NH, there is 1 in ME on the ME/NH/Atlantic Ocean border on an island in ME near Portsmouth, NH. Again, that might be a military target in a major world war.

In the Lakes Region and north (the 4 northern regions in NH), there aren't major targets, there's only 1 Interstate and only in part of the area, the largest 2 cities are 15K and 9K. There aren't any highly populated communities in VT/ME or even in Canada in that area. It is the more rural/hunting/shooting/live free or die area of NH. Especially rural Grafton County and in Coos County, where Ron Paul won in the 2012 NH Republican Presidential Primary. Even the Democrats up there tend to be able to handle themselves very well. There is a ton of water up there and pretty much an unlimited supply of trees to use as heat in the Winter. You would likely want a solar panel for your place.

Personally, I'm not worried about VT getting bombed in a major world war so I think even southwestern NH (the Monadnock region) is fine but Joel is really considered about such a war by around 2020.

Berlin seemed like the best option for Coos.

Keene, Goffston, Manchester, New Boston, Nashua, and Concord are other places i'd like to visit. All of the places seem great in their own regard. I'm pretty set on going there it's just a matter of taking the time to do it. Living in Chicago doesn't make it easy but I will move out there sometime this summer.

I recommend people move to Manchester or another city such as Rochester, Concord or Nashua when they first move to NH. I recommend renting and checking out good places to live and work. Then move to that place. For the purposes of this thread (Strategic Relocation and all) Maybe start out in Manchester, Concord or Rochester. Than you could relocate to the Lakes region or somewhere north of it pretty easily. Or, if you had trouble physically relocating, you could at least get a house or cabin up there and start fixing it up in case there is a collapse of some kind.

As for Berlin, it is the cheapest place in NH to live, so it has that going. I've seen 4 unit apartment buildings listed for $60,000. But obviously, there are serious reasons why property is so inexpensive in Berlin. It isn't as bad as Detroit, but there are a lot of problems with the city. For some people, it might be a good place to live, especially if you work online and can live wherever you want. For Strategic Relocation, I'd recommend another community in the Lakes region or north of it. But hey, different people have different wants and needs.

As for Chicago, I beleive their are direct flights from that city to Manchester, Boston, Burlington, Hartford and maybe even the airport in Portland :) Maybe fly into Manchester and rent a car. People have certainly driven from Chicago to NH. I think I've seen multiple people do that to attend Porcfest. Porcfest happens in Lancaster, NH, which is in the prime Strategic Relocation area in the Northeast, BTW :)

I watched the whole thing not too long ago. I am skeptical about nuclear war theories but I do agree with his analysis on strategic relocation.

People advocating South America, especially Mexico, do not know what they are talking about.

Agreed. Been to Brazil several times. Government there is 100 times worse that ours in terms of rediculous laws and red tape. LOT of people there get in to local and national politics just to steal the tax dollars ...literally. As for the Cumberland Plataue area of TN, it's generally only about an hr (by car) removed from the infamous Y12 Complex in Oak Ridge, TN that created the atom bomb and still does a ton of nuclear/defense reseach for the government. Should WW3 ever break out, that's gau-on-teed to be on a first strike list by some country -unforunately. I'd say Middle, TN or S central, KY would be far safer.
