5 Best Countries to Move to Before Collapse of the West

Chile is by far the best.

Anyone on these forums read Sovereign man?

Slight chance I could imagine myself in Mexico, but I don't know anything about it... I don't speak Spanish (yet), and it would be imperative to be VERY far from high crime areas and anywhere where there's much drug/cartel stuff going on. Maybe Chile too, but it's extra far.

Personally I'd feel much safer being in bed with a cartel than I feel opposing "Our-Government"....

Fred Reed lives in Mexico and says the scary bad stuff is blown way out of proportion by media. FWIW.

Like how in the movie "The Day After Tommorow" Where the planet's weather goes to the crapper and 60% of northern USA is frozen and Americans fleeing to Mexico?

Bosnia and Herzegovina. Things are so bad that people dont expect anything (positive) from their government... and they dont get anything (positive). Things can only go for better...

Local joke: Depression came back home in BiH to die.

Those places might be better for people who are there now but for those that want to go there when crisis starts will not be that good.

Chile is cool but do you know of the Ozone problem there? they have street lights to tell you when you go inside due to high levels of radiation. serious problem in some parts of that country

Of all the places you'd think of (this list doesn't include other solid options like New Zealand, Australia, Switzerland, Iceland, Canada, Singapore, and Hong Kong) you still discover that ALL of them have significant cons that outweigh their pros and ultimately you'd be better off staying here in the US and migrating towards a less populated or more freedom loving section of the country. There's a ton of great states out there and almost all of them beat whatever you'll find outside of the borders. New Hampshire, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, basically anything north/northwest of Utah, Texas, and secluded parts of the south all provide the type of escape everyone is looking for. The question is really about you and what your own tastes and motives are. I'm leaning towards New Hampshire (anywhere is better than Chicago) but I still haven't totally made up my mind. All I know is once I make my move I want to start preparing right away and it really becomes, imo, a matter of where the best place in the country is to do that.

I would hate to live in any of those countries lol. If I had to move from the U.S., I'd go and settle in Switzerland.

I will stay here. No point in leaving my home. Besides what happens here will happen everywhere eventually. No point in running.

I love hong kong. Best decision I ever made. As a small business HK is sooooo friendly to small business owners. They really encourage small businesses doing international trade, super friendly. Im so used to being spoiled over here I'm not sure I got go back to the beaurocratic mess of USA.

Every American expat I have EVER met here that was on a 1-3 year contract, they all extended or tried to extend or switched jobs or whatever it took to stay in HK. And the ones I've met that had to go back, we're in tears leaving HK and being forced to go back to USA.

I know a lot various expats who praise Singapore a lot, but haven't met a lot of American expats so I'm not sure, but it seems nice. But visiting and hearing people love it and living it are different. I do hear its quite business friendly as well.

The one thing I don't like is the HKD is tied to the USD, but they could probably switch over to RMB overnight or maybe base their currency in other ways. we already trade in lots of currencies, so it's not really a big deal, I could stop using USD without much trouble if needed.

LOL. Yeah, let's all stampede over the Mexican border and give them a taste of their own medicine. ;)

It used to be a great place to visit. A lot of fun. Still is from what I hear.

I wouldn't go down there expecting to get what they expect when they come up here. They aren't stupid. They may say they believe one thing here. You try and hold them to it down there you may find they are singing a different tune.

Speaking of different tune...all of the rock bands in Tijuana used to have a Santana sound about them.

Carlos Santana Evil Ways Woodstock 1969

Mostly your pretty cool down there until you run out of money.

Joel Skousen in the book Strategic Relocation and the documentary by the same name, recommends that English speakers move to the US. He recommends ID and rural UT as the best place. The Cumberland Plateau in TN as the best place in the Southeast. He recommends northern Northern New England as the best place in the Northeast. His 2nd top country is Canada, near the US border. I beleive he is the top expert in the world on this subject. Though, I disagree with him on a few issues.

Website with book and additional info. http://www.joelskousen.com/strategic.html

Part of the documentary with ads in it.
