Awesome!

Snow is one of those strange human things that would be impossible to explain to aliens. Snow is like hitting the intergalactic lottery. Your planet and star needs to be just the right size, they need to be just the right distance apart. Then you need just the right atmosphere with just the right pressure and a billion other things. Instead of rejoicing in the complete weirdness of snow many complain because it slows our 5 million year old oil burning metal box from 70mph to 40mph. Humans in 2014 are like a Greek myth they just don't know it.

Stay warm Torch......

Folks don't know how to drive in the white stuff down there so watch out!

everything is shut down, and i'm staying put.
since it rarely snows here, most people just skip the increased risk of accident by waiting out the one day of snow.

It is beautiful. I can remember each time it snowed here in my lifetime. this is the most snow i've seen in one setting.
what makes this snow storm different is that is wasn't preceded by freezing rain. almost always we get freezing rain first, long ice shards form on power lines.
not this time. beautiful snow.

I thought I saw I-610 is closed, which i think is near st.rose if i'm not mistaken.
I-310 is the one near St. Rose...I-610 is in NOLA. it's possible they closed I-310...they're probably getting a wintry mix there. According to the radar, we're not far from where snow is falling, but it's not likely to get here. Your pics are beautiful. We had a snowfall like that on New Year's Eve on 1963...,when they're as rare as we have in SE LA, you really do remember every one. Enjoy it!

Yes....Metairie

We're getting sleet now. Here's my sleet pic (if you look very closely LOL)

according to the future track, you will probably only see sleet. it will get up to 33 degrees around noon, and won't return back to below freezing until 6pm.

what is the temp at your location?
its 21f here.
