25,000 Muslim Rioters Torch 300 Year Old Buddhist Temples

I am wondering how many of those Rioters have Computers and internet,, let alone Facebook accounts.

Sounds like someone went out and souped up a crowd,, deliberately.

the OP posts 25,000,, other news sources say "hundreds"..

I'm betting,,, dozens.

The 25,000 number is from direct quotes from Bangladeshi officials.

Cognitive dissonance is not believing what you don't want to believe.

I DON"T CARE. Unless that temple was in North Carolina then I DON"T CARE. They'll work it out or they won't. I DON'T CARE.

I sometimes wish religion did not exist and it would be one less factor that divides people. We enough problems with people killing each other because of skin color.

If it's not religion, it's politics. If it's not politics, it's culture. If it's not culture, it's skin color. If it's not skin color, it's language...

People are instinctually tribal. Blaming behavior like this on religion is like saying there'd be no crime without guns. And religion, unlike racism or cultural supremacy, actually leads to a lot of good in the world. You'd be better off wishing politics didn't exist rather than religion

Here's some more large font open-ended mathematical inference:

25,000 protestors

÷

1,600,000,000 Muslims

X 100

=

0.0015625%

The main religion in Bangladesh is Islam (89.4%), but a significant percentage of the population adheres to Hinduism (9.6%).

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bangladesh

The district referenced is "Cox's Bazar" (in the article at top):

Population (2007 est.)Total population represents population in city and metro represents entire district.[1]
• City 51,918

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cox%27s_Bazar

25,000 / (89.4% * 51,918) =
54% of Muslims in that District

(assuming all came from that referenced district - which I do not claim)

Your inference is that 0.0015625% of Muslims partook in this - a meaningless stat. My inference is about half (~50%) the Muslims of that region - when given the excuse to riot - participated. The reality may be that my number should be 5% would riot with little cause (e.g., they may have overestimate the number of rioters or many travelled from out of town to go crazy), but even that would be far more reflective of reality than your bullshit number. I'd be off by a factor of 10, you would still be off by a factor of 3200.

Muslims have been doing that to Buddhists for a LONG time. Buddhism was born in India but was driven out by the Muslims. A bad situation. But there are few situations, including this one, that cannot be made worse with US intervention.
The nation of Nepal has just written an official warrant for your arrest for calling them part of India. Also, you seem to be forgetting the Buddhist genocides of Muslims by Pol Pot and in present day Burma.

Considering the fact that the number of protestors against the film would total less than 15 000, excluding lebanon, in the entire middle and probably less than 20000 in the entire muslim world, excluding Pakistan, 25000 seems like too much for a small country.

In Indonesia, which is the country with the largest muslim population(230 million people), there where 200 protestors. It seems that these
protestors are very violent, since they had to cancel a Lady Gaga concert, where 50 000 Indonesians had already bought tickets.

1. Nepal didn't exist when Buddhism was born - it was in India.

2. I never said Buddhists haven't been involved in aggression, although Pol Pot was no Buddhist. He was an extreme Maoist.

Ok... The Mrs. is concerned that I'm pissing off Islamic Fundamentalists... images are for educational and journalistic purposes only, not to disgrace or promote hate, please don't take offence and riot our home.

Are you inferring that only fundentalists would take offense to a photograph of a Qur'an in a toilet?

sure thing

I think he's inferring that only fundamentalists would riot over it.

mostly.

I'm presenting "news". It is what it is... I can't change that. Certainly it would take an off the edge fundamentalist to take a presentation of world news as something to riot over. Anyone else that gets gravely offended by some photoshopped image... cry me a river.

Personally, I find a photo of a 300 year old Buddha statue sitting in a pile of burned out rubble far more offensive than meant-to-be-inflammatory a photoshopped image of the Koran.

Creation of the image, IMHO is really just drama queening:

"neener neener neener... look what I did to the koran"

to milk a response.

With the Buddhist site desecrated, the taunters and the taunted both look like fools.

Pol Pot was atheist communist, not Buddhist.

http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/asia/315690/myanmar-monks-protest-anti-buddhist-unrest

About 100 monks demonstrated in Myanmar's main city Rangoon on Friday against attacks by Muslim mobs targeting Buddhist temples and homes in neighbouring Bangladesh.

Holding signs with slogans including "The Earth Is for Everyone, Not Only for Muslims" and "Stop Insulting Buddhism", the robed monks staged a short protest outside the Bangladesh embassy in the former capital.

The rally ended when police asked the monks to disperse.

"The rally ended when police asked the monks to disperse"

Wow these are the most polite protesters I have ever heard of.
