And since we're a race obsessed culture, yes, both the victim and the shooter were white. And like the other shooting of someone at the wrong house, the shooter was a senior citizen.

A 20-year-old woman looking for a friend's house in upstate New York was fatally shot by a homeowner when she went to the wrong address, authorities said Monday.

Kaylin Gillis was in a car with three others on Saturday night when they mistakenly pulled into the wrong driveway on Paterson Hill Road in Hebron, Washington County Sheriff Jeffrey Murphy said during a press conference. It's an easy area to get lost in and they were in the driveway for just a short time, he said.

"While they were leaving the residence after they determined that they were at the wrong house, the subject came out on his porch for whatever reason and fired two shots, one of which struck the vehicle that Kaylin was in," Murphy said.

It's a rural area with not a lot of reception, so the driver kept going and eventually someone in the vehicle connected with 911 around 9:50 p.m., authorities said. Patrols found them on Cemetery Road in neighboring Salem and performed CPR on Gillis before she died.

Police headed to 65-year-old Kevin Monahan's Hebron home where Gillis was shot, Murphy said. He was uncooperative and wouldn't come outside to talk with patrols, he said, and officers took him into custody after about an hour of back-and-forth talking.

Officials believe Monahan is a laborer and has lived at his home in Hebron for "quite a while." He was arrested on a second-degree murder charge. Monahan has not said anything to investigators about why he allegedly started shooting.

"There was clearly no threat from anybody in the vehicle," Murphy said. "There was no reason for Mr. Monahan to feel threatened."

Gillis is from Schuylerville, New York. Murphy said she came from a very good family.

"From all indications, she was an innocent young girl who was out with friends," he said.

The shooting happened days after Ralph Yarl, 16, was shot and wounded in Kansas City, Missouri, after going to the wrong house to pick up his siblings.

Conclusion: Senior citizens are senile and or demented and should not own guns!

At a minimum signs should be posted: Private Property No Trespassing "Warning those who knock will be shot!"

You know you may be on to something. The 2nd amendment is grounded in this militia, and the federal militia statute cut off is 45.

Wait, wait, wait ... are you telling me that escalation in the form of a violent, zero-dark-thirty "hut!-hut!" SWAT raid isn't always necessary to deal with such problems? Well, I'll be damned! Imagine that ...

As usual, we probably don't have all of the fact, or the correct "facts". That being said, if they were leaving, and had not committed any crimes, then this is clearly some degree of homicide.

That's now reserved for enemies of the state (aka political opposition).

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Occam's Banana again.

Another shooting like this happened today in my local area, except it was wrong car instead of wrong house.

Put your thinking-caps on, folks... these patterns are the furthest possible thing from "random"...

Just googled this Kevin Monahan character. His mugshot says it all. I hope while in custody someone knocks that smug look off his face. If this POS is so concerned about people driving up his driveway then put a gate at the end of your lane. Wait that would mean he might have to get off his fat a$$ and get out of his vehicle and open or close the gate.

I'm going to float the possibility that a gate would be against some code, zoning, or ordinance in that part of the world.

No, it isn't.

Yes it is. And that's a good thing. It should mean that it covers machine guns. But it's not about hunting or even "self defense" but rather community defense. We aren't suppose to have a standing army...but we do.

It's about everything.

Purple spoons, needed for the purpose of eating cereal on national Purple Spoon Day, the right to own and use spoons shall not be infringed.

That doesn't mean you can only own purple spoons and it doesn't mean you can only have spoons on national Purple Spoon Day. It means anybody can have and use any type of spoon anytime they want, for any purpose.

There was a pre-existing common law RTKBA, but the 2nd amendment was specifically written for the common defense.

No, it was specifically written to allow the right of individuals to keep and bear arms without any limitation.

That was just a reason given.

I never said there was any limitation. I said the 2nd amendment is rooted in the militia. And that's true. That's why in reality you should be able to own a machine gun. The 2nd amendment was never about shooting deer and turkey.
