(10/26/11) Ron Paul on Fox News - Official Thread

When Krauthammer was grilling on Huntsman about Ron Paul, Huntsman I believe said to him "We'll see how you do against him tomorrow night"

but Krauthammer uses every excuse he can to bash Ron Paul, even when he's not the subject they're talking about!

One thing I know about searching this forum is that the search function on the forum itself doesn't work most of the time. I usually have to go to google and do an "advanced" search to find whatever I'm looking for here.

You mean it is too slow? I have noticed that sometimes it is real slow, like sometimes it will take 30-60 seconds to perform a search, but usually it only takes a few seconds for me.

No, I mean it can't/won't find any results, even when there ought to be a lot of them, it just comes back with "sorry, no matches" or something to that effect.

Oh OK. Well one thing that can cause that is that the search function won't accept searches for words that are 3 characters or less in length. It also won't accept searches for words greater than 20 characters in length. So pretty much any link you put into the search function is going to be too long. The way around that is to keep in mind that the search function treats almost all non-alphanumeric characters stored in the database as spaces, so something like

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0511/55097.html

is recognized by the search function as

http www politico com news stories 0511 55097 html

which you can then find by searching for "politico" or "55097". Searching for links generally isn't a good way to check for existing threads though as I explain in this thread; it is usually better to search for one or two slightly uncommon words that are integral to the subject at hand.

Is that the problem you are encountering or is it something else?

I never search for links, and I know about the too short and too long words. I always search as you suggest. I sometimes have success searching for posts by a specific user but most of the time I can't remember who said what, and instead search for unusual terms, or filter by date to narrow results. It never works and it sucks for a person like me who has virtually no short-term memory left (in my brain, that is).

Ron knows exactly who Krauthammer is, he's been writing/speaking against Krauthammer and his ilk for a long, long time.

I hope we see the firebrand Ron, and not the concilliatory one we've seen in places. Something tells me that sitting next to a neocon gate master will fire him up.

He wasn't so tough on Johnson, until he started flip-flopping. Sure, he'll ask tough questions, likely regarding foreign policy, but he's not stupid enough to directly attack Ron on the 2nd highest rated show on Fox News. He will just try to trap him.

That's strange. I don't have any problems with it like that. The most important thing for me is to make sure the results are sorted by date, not by relevance (which is the default option when you click on "Advanced Search"). Searching by relevance is MUCH less effective I think. When you search directly from the search box along the top of every page however, the default is to sort dy date, which is good. It sounds like you are aware of this option though. If you have any specific examples of search terms not working for you, I'd be interested to know.

In a 2005 speech (later published in Commentary Magazine) he called neoconservatism "a governing ideology whose time has come." He noted that the original "fathers of neoconservatism" were "former liberals or leftists".

quoting krauthammer's wikipedia page... he still seems rather hawkish, though he's certainly no cheney.

That's easy! Everything I try fails! A few times I tested it just to see if it would work with stuff I knew would HAVE TO turn up some results, and even those tests failed. A few examples:

libertarian
Herman Cain
interventionist
hannity

The list could go on almost forever.

Yeah, something is wrong with your ability to search that seems to be unique to your account. Check your default search parameters to see if they are the same as mine. Otherwise you'll have to ask the admins.

I'm tuning in - hope Paul is on his game tonight.

Does anyone know if he will be in studio?
