  • :pshe insults me all the time. She is one of the most antagonistic and insulting members here, for sure.

How Christianly of her eh? So much for her turning the other cheek :D
Most likely when I get out, but could be up to a year after. My enlistment is up Oct 22ish of next year. Can't fucking wait to get out!!! You should definitely make the trip. We need everyone we can get, and it'll be fun knowing a few people on the forums that live there before I head up.
Yes, I did. Originally it was a blog... now its a temporary home for toons.
I don't see the government as a business, it's role is not to run like a business. It's role is to protect our rights and protect us from invasion. I liken it to a business in the sense that we select them, we pay them, we vote them out, and we expect them to do our bidding - in much the same way that a business owner hires, pays, fires, and directs his employees.

Every single American was not required to agree to it because we were not founded as a democracy. They agreed through their representatives.
I agree the system that was put in place - the Constitution - has been subverted due in large part to the complacency of the American people. We had a resposibility to keep a watchful eye on our representatives. It's like owning a business, hiring people to run it, and work in it, and then not monitoring their productivity, reliability, and honesty, among other things. What do you expect would happen?

As to taxation on wages - it's unconstitutional. The American people agreed to Article I section 8 regarding the apportionment of taxation. They were hoodwinked, however, with the 16th amendment, which delivered to them a progressive tax. I contend that this, along with the Federal Reserve Act, and the subversion of the Constitution has brought ruin to my country.
I don't know how much I can write in a visitor message, so I'll PM you about it
And that respect goes both ways brother. ;)

I've always enjoyed talking with you and thrashing out issues in the few cases we disagree.

I've always had this break with voluntarists/ancaps/libertarians: the open border/free trade issue.

And I know the holes in my argument, but I still maintain that there are larger holes in the alternative right now.
Hey, maybe you can do some pro-bono Austrian education in the process!

And yes, I am in Italy right now. It's been rough and smooth. Trieste is a beautiful city right on the waters, and the architecture and aura of the city is so great. However I know very little Italian, and I don't know anybody here so it's been very lonely for me in my small apartment. There are some cultural differences that have nearly killed me, too. I completely ran out of food on Sunday, and planned on grocery shopping. Turns out just about everything is closed on Sunday, so I had to settle for bread and olive oil with water for the whole day lol. But I'm learning, gotta get burned somehow...
well im very interested in cosmology and particle physics, and most likely ill end up teaching at a university or something. i'm not really learning physics for doing a job, i want to stay in academia. learning and teaching, that's what i want to do. somehow i have to fit in how to travel a lot...

and that must be (?) a busy thing for you. do you get lots of folks asking for your help in these rough times?
haha, well hopefully people don't get too caught up about facebook drama.

yes, im very dedicated. 2 years ago i took a math proofs class with, who i consider, the best professor in the entire university. he's 86 and kind of loony, but his method of doing math is amazing. i tried to describe it in my blog here: http://tortoisedream.livejournal.com/27346.html

but yes, i am a physics/math student at UNH. i do research in string theory (at a basic level now, of course, as it's very advanced). it amounts to the best job in the world, sitting around all day and doing cool problems.

anyways, enough about me, how have you been? i don't think i know much about you other than our really interesting, abstract discussion here :)
no worries. im doing very well, actually going insane learning all of this new physics and math. that's basically my life, 24 hours of physics every day lol. how about you?
