Rand Paul broke with GOP senators to oppose failed Iran sanctions bill

http://thinkprogress.org/world/2014/01/30/3228081/rand-paul-iran-sanctions/ The bill was a step toward war, as it would have violated the Geneva deal. Thanks to the presence of individuals like Paul in the Senate, the bill was scuttled and a rapprochement between Iran and the US remains...

U.S. lawmakers seek tighter Iran sanctions before any deal

http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/11/11/us-iran-nuclear-idUSBRE9A804X20131111 There is zero possibility this approach will lead to concessions from Iran and increase the chance of a diplomatic resolution. Does anyone know Rand Paul's position on this effort by his colleagues?

Can someone please ask Rand Paul to talk to Ted Cruz and convince him to not support war?

Cruz is not stupid and knows that Iran will never accept zero nuclear enrichment, so when he says anything short of that requires a "preventative" US war, he's supporting war. Why does him saying "nothing of going to war" mean he's not supporting war? You can support something while claiming not...

Ted Cruz and war with Iran

I had no idea he said that. I thought he was a kind of libertarian Republican who was being pushed toward the neocon camp as a Senator. I guess Ron, and to a lesser extent, Rand Paul are really the only moral men in Washington. In fact, now that you've told me this, I prefer Obama over Cruz.

Ted Cruz and war with Iran

I never claimed he actually said he wants a war with Iran. No one ever says they do. His actions speak louder than words. He doesn't have to say he wants a war with Iran to support a policy position that makes one much more likely.

Can someone please ask Rand Paul to talk to Ted Cruz and convince him to not support war?

You mean opposing a deal is a stupid idea, or asking Paul to talk to his colleague to support a position that makes a deal possible? His position is in support of war with Iran. I didn't claim he came out and said so. No one says they want a war with Iran. They just create the conditions which...

Can someone please ask Rand Paul to talk to Ted Cruz and convince him to not support war?

LibertyEagle, the US political establishment will not accept Iran continuing to expand its nuclear enrichment capabilities, which is what's going to happen in the absence of a deal, and an escalation of sanctions. Obama and most of the House and Senate leadership have said that if the US and...

Can someone please ask Rand Paul to talk to Ted Cruz and convince him to not support war?

Ted Cruz has come out today in support of a negotiating stance that makes normalization between the U.S. and Iran an impossibility: http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?432799-Sadly-Ted-Cruz-has-come-out-for-war-with-Iran

Ted Cruz and war with Iran

I know Cruz is not a Rand Paul Republican, but he's less of a hawk than the neocons. I was very disappointed to see this: http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2013/11/08/emerging-iran-deal-brings-jitters-to-washington/ FYI, no one really expects Iran to suspend enrichment altogether. The outlines of...

Second Iranian Nuclear Facility Exploded. No Accident

Iran is not an existential threat to Israel. They're highly rational and risk-averse. They're not going to commit mass-suicide/murder in a nuclear attack. They have a military budget of $9 billion, or 1/80th that of the US. The US recently purchased 20 bunker buster bombs from Boeing for $314...

Rand Paul voted for Iran sanctions?

It's just disappointing that he still has to sell out principles for strategy. The whole point of winning a Senate seat is that then you can vote for what's right without having to worry it'll be turned into a 30 second attack ad.

Rand Paul voted for Iran sanctions?

Strategically, he's not going to get neocon support if he's not the biggest warmonger, so I don't see why he wouldn't just stick to principle and vote against it, so I think philosophically he probably supports sanctions. I'd guess he convinced himself that the US must intervene against Iran...
