Mitt Romney’s march to the Republican presidential nomination could be halted if South Carolinians turn out in droves at next week’s primary, pollster John Zogby tells Newsmax.

A high turnout would be good for Ron Paul, and it could just be enough for an upset in the Palmetto State, Zogby said in an exclusive interview with Newsmax.TV

Hard to believe, I think even a top 3 finish would exceed expectations, but it would be really really great. let's make the saturday money bomb a success.

Zogby loves to float things like this out there just in case he happens to be right. He's only trying to benefit off of us dominating the airwaves, the debates, and finally, the argument. He's nothing more than an opportunist. Take a look at what he said about NH. I think we can win, but if we do, Romney won't be in second. We're gonna need Newt to stick around IMHo.

They're just trying to make sure Romney people don't take a win for granted and and not vote in the primaries. It's good they're worried, though.

Zogby does have some credibility - recall that his latest poll of NH just before the primary was 38% Romney and 24% Ron Paul, 11% Santorum, and 9% Gingrich - he was SPOT ON in NH!! True, he underpolled Huntsman by a factor of 2, but other candidates were absolutely spot on.

I consider what he's saying very good news, coming from Zogby. But heaven help us in SC if we're relying on the voter turnout in SC because grassroots activity in SC has been VERY SLEEPY... I really hope we can pick it up in SC rapidly.

Not true, it`s spin to hype a Romney win

First thing I thought, too. It's meant to reverse the roles between Romney and Paul. It's supposed to hype a Romney victory as "unexpected" (when it is anything but) and to marginalize Ron Paul by somehow spinning the result as a "let down" when there is no expectation for him to win.

Paul is already tied for 3rd with Santorum. Mittens and Newton are 10 points away.

Mittens and Newton are 10 points away.

Mitt & Newt might spend millions on attack ads, blowing each other up, and knocking down their poll numbers. We saw how attack ads crushed Newt in Iowa.

So maybe those guys blow themselves up in SC, and Ron Paul eeks out a surprise victory, with a better than expected turnout.

In New Hampshire Ron Paul beat the Real Clear Politics average by 5.5% and PPP's poll by almost 5%. If the same thing happens in South Carolina he would only have to surge in the polls by 4 to 8%. This should be doable.
