I didn't notice that, but I was listening rather than watching because I was busy. Could you elaborate so I can watch for it next time I see it?
Maybe you should be a bit more open-minded, just because you could label something as socialist doesn't mean the whole thing came from the Devil or something.
And perhaps some level of socialism isn't that bad.

I saw the whole movie. You will like this video if you already believe in all the conspiracy theories.
I didnt like the movie. The stuff on religion was new and interesting to me. I did some research on the facts presented on that topic and found that there wasnt a lot of truth in it. I kind of believe that they "made up" the facts (out of thin air). Because of this, I doubt the credibility of the rest of the movie and its conclusions.

I watched about an hour of it and stopped because it knocked free market economics way too much. He threw Ron Paul in it a few times, more than likely to try to get us to rally around it and he talked about the Fed to get us behind it but he is obviously very much against free market economics. His idea of free trade is obviously the NAFTA idea of free trade because he makes the claim that our system is completely free market and that is why we have the problems we do.

I thought the first one was decent but this one is very counterproductive. If easily led-astray people see this, we'll have even more anti-free market people running around

I recommend watching the whole movie. It says a lot of stuff you really won't agree with, but its still worthing thinking about. I found some of their theories to be quite interesting.
At first, the movie sounds communistic, but its not promoting communism or socialism. Sure, they attack the free market and capitalism, and I didn't like or understand why, but once again, this movie isn't about socialism or communism. If you think about it, they didn't emphasize group or state control of the means of production, the hallmark of communism or socialism. It's promoting something entirely different and all I can think of calling it is Post-Scarcity.
What they emphasize is that we have the technology to make energy (via geothermal) and production (via full automation) abundant, or post-scarce. If everything is post-scarce then you won't need a market to allocate things.
And this is where the disconnect comes from for me.
The free-market system is absolutely the best system for allocating scarce goods. The way they attack it makes zero sense to me. Their arguments are fairly simplistic and dead wrong, considering all of the advances in science and technology we have made under the free-market system. As Ed Griffin said in his review of the film, "Perhaps the biggest insult to our intelligence is the main theme of the program. It is that profits are the root of all our problems today."
Now, push that aside and consider thesis of a post-scarce society independent of their baseless attacks on the free market. If goods and labor aren't scarce, as they have been for almost all of human history, if they are abundant, then they don't need to be allocated by the free market. They'd just be free. That is the core concept they try to push--a future society where unlimited energy and fully automated labor makes all things abundant and free. That sounds like a wonderful society. Really, who wouldn't want to live there?
But, even in that future, a market system will still exist. A profit motive will still exist. They just won't exist in the same form they do today.
Even if everything material you could think of is abundant, there will always be something that will be scarce--like ideas, hand-crafted works of art or pieces of real estate. You're going to need some system for exchanging these things, and the free market system is still the best way to do it.
Likewise, the profit motive will still exist, though not in the same form. Today, profit = material goods like cash or gold or some other tangible item. In a post-scarce society, material goods would be so abundant they'd almost be trivial. They'd hardly be worth laboring for and would probably not be thought of as "profit". Profit, that is the gains one receives from making an investment, will take a more intangible form. Imagine a society where material stuff is so widespread that the only profit that can be gained is knowledge.
After cutting through all the bullshit, that's what I got out of it. It's definitely something thats interesting to think about, and I do think that a post-scarce society is something we should aim for. But I don't agree with their attacks on the market, because the market will always exist.
