Yemen on the brink of civil war

The US will not let it's dictatorial regime to submit to the Yemeni people. So let me get this straight, 100's of Yemeni's murdered by their dictator and the US continues to fund the regime? CIA/Mi6/CFR funded with their Rebel Terrorists overthrowing the sovereign nation/government of Libya and that's just fine?

See, Brutal Dictators are GOOD... when they serve the US governments plans... But Very Very Bad when they oppose the New World Order doctrine laid down by Uncle Sam.

I see in Bahrain, the bastion of Democracy, American Hypocrisy sponsored tyranny, just made great strides in lifting Martial Law in most areas of Bahrain after months... damn I forget that dictator kingdom monarchy houses the US 5th Naval Fleet.

Agree, and that's really my problem with it. If I were a citizen of another nation, I would have no problem thinking the USA is full of BS. It's so transparent it's obvious. Why don't we just be honest about it? "Having tough dictators keeping order in certain countries is in the USA's national interest in our eyes, so we'll continue." That'd be some truth from the Administration. Until they're blunt like that, we'll continue to be a joke.

It's getting really bad there in Yemen:

Various airlines canceled incoming and out-bound flights. A tense week of get-out-now amidst water and electricity cuts across the capital unfolded. At a farewell pizza party for a friend who left the country this week we held candles because the lights had been out for hours. The next evening another friend had to stay one more night in Sana’a because his Ethiopian Airlines flight had been canceled. A close friend who works for the U.N. was evacuated Friday morning. It is just not safe.

A host of governments have urged their nationals to leave Yemen while commercial flights are still available. The airport was believed to be closed as gun battles crept closer to it.

Saleh is facing a crisis that is becoming an international headache while he repeatedly reiterates that the matter can be resolved internally. Even his strongest allies are now urging him to quit. The US has supported Saleh with weapons and a budget of millions to fight al-Qaeda. The US government is now dealing with him as it did Hosni Mubarak, of Egypt — it said last week that he should sign the GCC deal and relinquish power. Yet without regional support and echoes from all quarters for him to step down he refuses to do so. Saleh’s departure is viewed as the one factor that can save Yemen from civil war.

Yemen: Living With an Endless Revolution

They have basically been in a civil war for six years already.[/url]

That's a good way to put it. The history of Yemen is very interesting because you get a lot of good background information to the current conflict at hand.

Yemen has been a mess for a long time now. They have basically been in a civil war for six years already. http://edition.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/africa/11/14/yemen.fighting/
I remember that time... that's when we (US Government) was covertly bombing of apparent Al Qaeda targets with F-15E Strike Eagles and F-22 Stealth Duds... we called it a scrimmage game on new weapons systems.

Of course the bombing was by the US all along, though the puppet Yemeni dictator said(LIED) it was Yemen forces that were bombing targets.

I really don't know anything about the history of Yemen, but I don't think it was ever this bad, was it?

Yeah, of course the Yemen government is right in killing those insurgents cuz they're a bunch of al qaeda members! (being sarcastic here)

Couple of good articles on the inter-tribal conflict which is facilitating the conflict:

Feud within key Yemen tribe could tear nation apart

If Yemen collapses, the fuse will have been lighted by a war pitting President Ali Abdullah Saleh against his senior clansman, analysts say, not pro-democracy protests or other challenges to his rule.

Elite Yemeni families at center of clashes

At their core, the increasingly violent clashes are an old-fashioned struggle for power and money between two segments of Yemen’s elite — supporters of President Ali Abdullah Saleh and tribesmen loyal to one of the country’s leading families, the Ahmars.
