But I do find it interesting that so much effort is being put into debunking and downplaying it.

If it is really nothing,, then ignore it..

But all the effort to stifle the concerns seems like Baghdad Bob.. "nothing to see here".

To be fair, they would get the same deer in the headlights crap whether they were telling the truth or not. Yellowstone is HUGE revenue for the area, and the last thing Wyoming needs is people to start packing up and moving out. Too much of that and they might have to revert to a territory again. OK not quite that bad but still. This guy is going to be scared to death in this situation even if he's being 100% truthful. The thing at the end though about Yellowstone not being about to erupt, lol that was fake. Nobody knows, nobody can know, really that's a big part of the point. And the guy who was reading the script, knew that. You could hear it in his voice.

Food migration along roads makes sense too. These animals have been watching cars do it all of their lives, a few herd try it and find faster access to greener land. Soon almost everybody starts. Makes sense to me. The fact that they were basically staying in the right lane demonstrates high adaptation to me. I actually think it's cool.

Maybe Yellowstone blows tomorrow, or in 1000 years. Nobody knows, and nobody is going to know until it actually happens. If the scientists on site get more than 5 hours warning I would be very surprised. When the magma climbs that caldera, it is unlikely to do so slowly, which is where volcanic warnings tend to come from. Even the 'unzipping' theory as probable as it is, the first jet should be super-pressured; so again everybody would know and very quickly that something unusual was happening.

I watched the video you posted. I can't help but think of all those disaster movies, with dialog between the authority figures, discussing and deciding that they will not inform the public because it will create chaos. They keeping it a secret would probably be the case, unless they think they can squeeze more funding out of the tax payer by disclosing the inevitable disaster. Central planners always think they know whats best, fatal conceit.
