Extremists finding fertile ground in Northwest US
...
Others include patriot leader and former Constitution Party vice presidential candidate Chuck Baldwin, who believes the U.S. is headed for a fight between big-government globalists and independent patriots; Stewart Rhodes, founder of Oath Keepers, which wants law enforcement officers and military personnel to sign an oath against a one-world government conspiracy; and Randy Weaver, whose standoff with federal marshals at Ruby Ridge, Idaho, in 1992 kick-started the modern patriot movement.

I'm proud to be anti-government. I'm a peaceful citizen, but I refuse to support the oligarchy that is the United States government.

read it. Yahoo shows why there not a major news outlet...

Why did I have to read it? I've read this drivel before. It IS based on an SPLC list, and if you look at SPLC's definition of hate group, they qualify. They are political bigots calling names and the left administration pretends they have credibility. It is nonsense.

The Montana Freemen were a Christian Patriot group based outside the town of Jordan. Members expressed belief in individual sovereignty and in 1996 engaged in an 81-day armed standoff with the FBI before surrendering.

Expressing a belief in individual sovereignty and gun-ownership makes you enemy number 1.

Take note mundanes.

Yeah, but Chuck Baldwin and oathkeepers didn't have anything to do with them, they are just all together in the list and in the article because SPLC doesn't like their politics.

Oh yea. They lumped the white-nationalists and even the Unabomber in there...

What I meant was I've read it, i was not instructing you to reread it.

AARRRRGGGHHHHH!!! Well, there goes the ol' blood pressure.

From the article:

They include so-called patriot groups, which fear one-world government and don't accept the federal government's authority. And they like northwest Montana because there is no dominant major city with liberal politics. It also has a deep libertarian streak and live-and-let-live attitude, said Travis McAdam, executive director of the Helena-based Montana Human Rights Network, an anti-hate group.

A "live and let live" libertarian attitude??:eek: OMG!!! We can't allow that, can we???

<<bangs head against wall>>

And yes, it's another loose bowel dribble from our friends at the SPLC, of course:

"Montana is developing into a hotbed," said Mark Potok, director of the SPLC Intelligence Project.

And of course, it ends with this (aforementioned) cheap shot:

Others include patriot leader and former Constitution Party vice presidential candidate Chuck Baldwin, who believes the U.S. is headed for a fight between big-government globalists and independent patriots; Stewart Rhodes, founder of Oath Keepers, which wants law enforcement officers and military personnel to sign an oath against a one-world government conspiracy; and Randy Weaver, whose standoff with federal marshals at Ruby Ridge, Idaho, in 1992 kick-started the modern patriot movement.

Ugh.

But the one really good thing? I was quite heartened by the post-story readers' comments. The couple dozen I read were actually very supportive of liberty! :D

How about breaking the link to the video so that we are not advertising this hit piece on Google.

It's not a Yahoo article. It's an Associated Press article, meaning it could run in a lot of newspapers nationwide....

don't tell me ... it's based on some list by that hate group SPLC, right?

SPLC is such garbage. You ever read a political essay by Cass Sunstien? It'll make ya puke.

"In what sense is the money in our pockets and bank accounts fully ‘ours’? Did we earn it by our own autonomous efforts? Could we have inherited it without the assistance of probate courts? Do we save it without the support of bank regulators? Could we spend it if there were no public officials to coordinate the efforts and pool the resources of the community in which we live? Without taxes, there would be no liberty. Without taxes there would be no property. Without taxes, few of us would have any assets worth defending. [It is] a dim fiction that some people enjoy and exercise their rights without placing any burden whatsoever on the public… There is no liberty without dependency." Cass Sunstien.
