yahoo front page: Ron Paul Sharing The Political Wealth With Like-Minded Candidates

Are you guys nuts? What did you think was going to happen? If you read anything about longterm political movements you will know that this is a GOOD DEVELOPMENT.

Don't you see that Ron Paul's development of this list IS WHAT WILL GIVE HIM POWER?

Your "personal email address" is some kind of holy ground that shall not be walked upon by any but Ron Paul? It's just an email address. If you don't want to be part of the movement, delete your account and start a new one.

What I did was set up a "politics" email account so i give that one out but not my other one.

I completly agree

I'm pretty damn sure that whoever WROTE that article, is trying to make it sound as if he is SELLING the donor list or email addresses...

WHEN IN REALITY THE DONOR LIST IS COMPLETELY PUBLIC RECORD IF YOU CHECK THE FEC WEBSITE!!!

FURTHERMORE, HE ISN'T MAKING MONEY FROM THE MASSIVE EMAIL LISTS, HE IS SIMPLY SHARING IT TO OTHER POLITICANS THAT ARE CONSIDERED 'RON PAUL REPUBLICANS'.

calm down...he's not putting your credit card number on the internet, geeeeeez.

THank you! My god what is wrong with people?

This is exactly what I need. I want to support as many candidates as possible who share Ron Paul's platform of limited government, maximum freedom, and strict adherance to our Constitution.

THank you! My god what is wrong with people? You all said you wanted a revolution. Did you expect to win this revolution in a matter of months? This Ron Paul revolution is a great step in changing the system and getting more Ron Paul republicans elected and maybe holding back the hords of corrupt politicians that want to open our borders and create a North American Union but you guys are bitching? This revolution needs weapons to fight these tyrants and if they want to use my email, I would be honered.

Cameron.

Gimme a break people, it's an email address.. how much did you pay for it? What sort of value does it hold?

NOTHING!! It's just an email address.. Can we get back to trying to win this thing and stop with the insesint campaign bashing? jeez!

To the guy crying about RP giving out your email, take a look at the signup page. You can click a box in order to not receive campaign email updates.

You might not consider the people RP endorses as part of the "campaign," but I do.

I don't have a problem with RP using this list to help get other like-minded individuals into office.

I trust Ron Paul to have the good judgement to use the list appropriately.

Some people have been trying to start trouble in here. (again)

everyone with a brain is finding it annoying! (obviouslly)

use the <!> to report dumb@ss posts.

:)

I haven't seen any verification of our personal email address being rented or
given out... but if this is true, by form of protest any unsolicited (read: SPAM)
i get from any "Ron Paul" wannabe will have my money going to his or her
opponent.

My personal email isn't meant to be shared ... even if it is Ron Paul's
son, Rand Paul's campaign.

They better understand this or else they've bought themselves one opposing
vote and money donation for the "other side".

I doubt seriously that they are "sharing" our email addresses. More likely, they are sending the emails on behalf of these candidates, which maintains the security of your email address.

If you don't want them to send you emails from anyone other than Ron Paul for President, just let them know. I'm sure they will exclude your name.

Personally I'm glad to see them trying to help elect people to office who share Ron Paul's views and am happy to receive such emails, as long as they don't turn my email address over to such campaigns. I can then decide which ones to support.

I'm really surprised and really disappointed with all the negative posts to this thread. From the very beginning (literally - from the very beginning when he started his exploratory committee back in the beginning of 2007) Dr Ronald E Paul has said flat out and with firm conviction that this entire campaign is ALL ABOUT THE MESSAGE.

Now he is using that list of supporters to FURTHER THE MESSAGE, just like he said he would. I don't see a problem.

If you donated to him, or to ANY political campaign, you knew that you were putting yourself on a list that would be used. Get over it. If you can't get over it and insist on being a juvenile moron like this guy...

...then I don't want you to vote for Ron Paul. I want you to vote for one of the other candidates who will fuck you in the ass and then smile while telling the media how they helped you. If you are that juvenile then GO AWAY, we don't need or want you in any way shape or form.

My mom emailed me a link to this article the other day. I didn't see it as anything negative, either. The author of the article sounded rather envious that Ron thought of this, if anything.

And about having your address given away - people! It's not that private of a thing! It is an address, merely a way for people to contact you. Do you keep your mailing address and phone number secret too? Anyone who's posted negatively in this thread and is still listed in their local phonebook is being a hypocrite. :) What about all the people we precinct leaders called and visited, using their physical addresses and phone numbers? They didn't even sign up to be counted as RP supporters ahead of time!

I would imagine that most libertarians are not listed in their local phone book. I know I'm certainly not. And I despise receiving communications from businesses, politicians or any other unsolicited source. The only people I want to hear from are people I know and people who I sign up to hear from, such as the Ron Paul campaign. That does not mean that I trust the man to give out my personal information to whoever he chooses. I don't support him that much. I supported his policies and his bid for president. That's all. Furthermore, I reserve the right to rescind my support of Ron Paul at any time and do not wish to be bound to receive unsolicited spam from his buddies because I may have, at one time, supported him. All of this B.S. I'm hearing about being a "true Ron Paul supporter" is very cultish and disturbing. When it comes time to drink the Koolaid for Paul, my loyalty ends.

That being said, as long as there is an "opt out" option in any emails that I may receive I'll be fine with it. And I will indeed exercise that option, because regardless of whether I support the candidates and their policies I do not like being "sold to". If I want something I will go out and find it. If I want to learn about and support candidates with similar views to Ron Paul I will find them and if I like them I will lend them my support, but I do not wish to have their message delivered to my email in-box without asking for it.

If you donated to him, or to ANY political campaign, you knew that you were putting yourself on a list that would be used.

I understood that in contributing to ANY political candidate ($200 or more)
my name, mailing address, employer, occupation and the amount I donate
would be public record. This means that anyone could have access
to this information from FEC. I've personally searched their public database
to see who in my neighborhood has donated to Ron Paul. It is easy. It is
free and available to anyone.

The thing I and others have a problem with, and YOU have a mental
deficiency of grasping, it appears, is my PERSONAL and PRIVATE email
address.

It was never disclosed that my personal email address would be made available
for any reason and to anyone. Do you get it? Personal rights? Personal
property rights? Personal right to privacy? Any of these sound close enough
to the "Message" that you speak of?

Obviously it is you who doesn't get it!

Get over it. If you can't get over it and insist on being a juvenile moron like this guy...

And how mature would you say you are yourself?

I truly am starting to believe that the reason we have failed, in general
as a nation and specifically as the Ron Paul R3volution movement is because
of douche bags like you that repeat crap they hear that you think are cool
to repeat "Freedom", "Revolution", "2nd Amendment", "Privacy", etc.. yet
lack the mental capacity to actually grasp these concepts and apply
them in real life and be able to respect others' rights in this respect.

You are the source of the problem and if you can't see this or can't figure
out a way to fix your attitude and way of thinking, you are forever lost
and a hinderer to the cause and the message.

Yea, I doubted that they would, given their general position of individual
freedom and rights. But others had similar concerns and some have in
fact started getting SPAM from other "like-minded" candidates or for
similar causes. There was at least one thread about this a day or two
ago. Though, it appears that their email addresses might have been
sold (or given out) by other "RP web-sites" (sites where you might have
pledged to donate for a certain money-bomb, or the like).

I personally have sent an email to Ron Paul's Presidential campaign HQ
asking them to clarify their position on "sharing" donor lists with "like-
minded" candidates. It has been about 3 days and have not yet received
a reply.

I have received emails from Ron Paul's official campaign mailing lists
about one candidate. This if fine with me, as I have explicitly signed up
for that mailing list. The only issue is given away my private and personal
email address without my consent.

It also bothers me very much that others in the "movement" who supposedly
should be advocates of individual rights and freedom simply don't get it.

Cheers!

Sidster is absolutely correct.

Some of you want so badly to believe in someone or something that you either will not or cannot see the facts of the matter.

Whoa...people! While I am a die-hard Ron Paul supporter I don't have a problem w/ people like Sidster, et al concerned about renting out our e-mail addresses w/o our permission. I think you need to calm down and stop calling people traitors or trolls just because they are questioning an action taken by HQ'S that seems a little out of character. Personally I haven't received any solicitous e-mails for any other candidates other than Paul and we donated to Ron's campaign at least a dozen times or more! I don't mind if my e-mail address has been rented out but if I find it's being abused then I will simply opt out.
