I will take the responsibility to arrange the write in for Ron Paul in New York State.

If anyone else has done this, let me know, so we can team up.

New York state election laws have been read, the Board of Elections has been referred to, and we now have the ball rolling.

Woot!

When you file please get a certified copy stamped and upload it so people can verify. In California it supposedly has been filed for but I am having a hard time at the moment, getting that confirmed or denied by the SOS office. I will get it done, but it would be easier if people can just verify it for themselves.

We are on top of things, Sail.

Carrie will be the front person on this. I will be helping her out.

Thank you!

I just meant so when people ask if it is done we can point them to something official, so they know it was done right. My problem in CA is they certify it, but only just as the period to file ends. I don't want to file multiple sets of electors for Ron, but I haven't found proof of the one that a letter to the editor says has already been filed. I'm just thinking of people in my situation being able to check.

If I remember correctly the write-in candidate form needs to be signed by Ron Paul and the electors. Has Ron Paul indicated he will sign the form?

Is that in NY? Because in CA only the electors have to sign because the electors ARE the actual candidates, they just declare to vote for Ron at a later electoral college vote.

I posted this in the other "write-in" thread last week about NY.

§ 6–153. Certificate of candidacy by write-in candidates for
president and vice president
1. Any person who wishes to be a write-in candidate for
president of the United States shall, not later than the third
Tuesday before the general election, file a certificate of candidacy
with the state board of elections.

2. Such certificate shall be signed by such candidate and
shall contain the following:
(a) The name and address of the candidate for president.
(b) The name and address of a candidate for vice president
of the United States, if any, and a certificate of acceptance
signed by such candidate.
(c) The names and addresses of the candidates for electors
pledged
to such candidate for president, together with a certificate
of acceptance and pledge of support signed by each such
candidate for elector.
(Added L.1988, c. 13, § 1. Amended L.1988, c. 175, § 3.)

It will be up to Dr. Paul to sign or not to sign.

Unfortunately, it probably won't happen, then. I remember in 2007 there was some third party that tried to nominate him to be on the ballot in some state and he refused (but I think he showed up on there anyway, I'm not sure on the details).

Don't get me wrong, you should keep trying, and see what happens. As a Fellow New Yorker, I would love to cast a legitimate vote for Ron Paul, rather than my current plan to vote for Gary Johnson as the least crappy candidate out of the three on the ballot.

Correct, thank you, and concur.

As a fellow New Yorker perhaps you could add your signature to an appeal to Dr. Paul to sign it. 2007 is a far cry from 2012. We played by the rules, won, and got beaten, cheated, ignored, and abused by the GOP leadership and the media at every turn.

I believe that entitles us to be able to at least write-in Dr. Paul in states where we request it.

Another NYer here... I plan on writing in Paul no matter what. I don't know how it works in the rest of NY, but here in the city, I'm fairly certain they publish the results of all the write-ins. I am under no impression that Dr. Paul will take the state, so I feel no need for it to officially "count" as long as it is recorded and released.

I'm also in New York though it's Long Island. I plan on writing in Ron Paul as a protest vote to this charade called politics.
